A white mans feel good movie for blacks.

Clearly a message from white people to blacks. You act like us and live up to our standards and we will respect you with a few caveats. Also why couldn't they of done a true story about the Tuskegee Airmen? I mean by doing a fictitious story we are saying the real thing is just not good enough for us... Why not just say hey this is what they did against certain odds and actually interview those people and get a real story they could put together, maybe embellishing a bit just like all movies but yeah.

A true story, perhaps even a documentary, just might have been better. This movie had an interesting subject, but was just not a very good movie.

I just thought to my self, why are they glamorizing something that is already a good story, just be true to what really happened. Also dont make black people want to live up to white expectations which is what they did in this movie. Idk if im explaing that to the way i mean it but yeah. That is the best way I could express it.

There was a really good documentary about these fellows on The History Channel that told a more accurate account of the events that took place. This piece of trash brought to you by the person who thought Jar Jar Binks was a great idea, is nothing but an insult to the men who fought and died( both black and white)from 44'-52'. This tripe was riddled with so many historical inaccuracies, overblown cgi and atrocious dialogue that i felt embarassed for the surviving pilots who had to watch this crap. But then again, what else do you expect from the man who tainted the Star Wars universe with those dreaded prequels.

Yes, I definitely felt like Lucas felt he had to make a dumbed-down movie to relate to a specific audience, and that's more offensive than the excuses he gave about the studios not backing it simply because it was "a black movie" (his quote). He was trying too hard to make it "normal", like "a black movie" could simply be about the pilots fighting a war with pilots who happened to be black, but that's just not possible because the Tuskegee Airmen were created out of the race relations of the time. The characters ended up being embarrassing.

Your opening sentence is purely wrong on a number of levels. Mister Hemingway, who is black, directed this film.

Having said all that, a docu-drama might have been a better approach to this film.

They did a much truer story ... called ... The Tuskegee Airman ... SURPRISE!

They also did several documentaries called .. The Tuskegee Airman ... SURPRISE!

So Lucas had to go full Star Wars to differentiate his product.

You should learn to use the Google. It is very handy.
