Is it mentioned anywhere what happened to the dad? He's in a wheelchair in the future where Nemo stays with his dad. Is it mentioned or hinted at why that is? And later when we see Nemo sleeping by the pool at the home he owns with Jean, we get a momentary flash of what to me looked like the dad's body floating face-down in the pool. Perhaps in his life with Jean, Nemo cares so little about anything that he didn't properly supervise his dad?

I guess it is implied that Ann is who makes Nemo happiest. I mean, it implies that Nemo is happiest to be a carefree child skipping stones, but he is with Ann. Of course Nemo never successfully hooked up with Ann as an adult, did he? We never saw their married life and family. We saw Nemo sleeping on a park bench and finally Ann shows up at this circle that Nemo meant to be a lighthouse, and they are overjoyed. But we never saw a future from that point, so was that just wishful thinking?

Looks to me like his dad became severely depressed and basically lost all hope in life thanks to his wife leaving him. It seemed like Nemo cared for him a lot, but then we he got a girl he liked and moved on in life, he forgot about his dad, I guess, and his dad wound up committing suicide, from the looks of it.

Did you not see the scene where nemo predicted his father driving into a baby ? On Netflix they cut this scene out entirely before the scene where nemo sees his mom kiss Anna's dad. Anyways, that is why nemos father is depressed and in that depression his mother chooses to have an affair
