Not so sure about this one

I saw it last night and was kind of bored, very familiar territory and not all that interesting, terrible music not of that time at all, pretty much a copy of The Big Chill but without the depth. I'm more Blank Generation than Gen X so maybe that's the problem; I was in my twenties in the 80's partially and had many younger friends but I don't remember it like that, maybe it's the LA thing, NY was not like that. The casts real age was all out of wac too, Ione Skye, Eric Stolz and Tate Donovan and Peter Facinelli are not from the same generation, not even close, others in the cast were not close either.

It was explained in the movie that Eric Stoltz & Tate Donovan were older than everyone else. Tate didn't grow up with them & eric was one of those creepy older guys who keeps hanging around with high schoolers. And peter facinelli played the main character's (Val's) little brother who was ten years her junior. Ione Skye played a high school senior in 1988's Say Anything, so if that's any indication, she is exactly the perfect age in moviegoers minds if not in real life. In the movie they were 36 in 2006. As for the music, I graduated high school in 1989 (one year after Val & her friends) & I recognized every song so I don't know what you were listening to in NY, but it sounds to me like you're too old to relate.

I'm from the east coast and graduated in '92. Just a bit younger than these characters and YES, the music, for the most part, was correct for those times. Although I was probably in elementary school when most of the songs were realeasd, I clearly remember them on the radio during the mid 80's. So it's not an east/west coast thing, it's an age thing.
As for the age difference (in real life), it shouldn't effect the believing of the characters to be close in age.
