name change?

why is it called clatterford in the US?

reply

Here is the reason given at the BBC Comedy Guide web site,
"Notes: The show was titled Clatterford in some international markets because the title Jam And Jerusalem - from the misconception that women's guilds are preoccupied with jam-making and hymn-singing - was considered too parochial. Clatterford was the title employed when the show was screened in the USA, BBC America being a funding partner in the production."

Nobody here knows about UK Women's Guilds, and we only know "Jerusalem" from watching Monty Python or Chariots of Fire.
