It was awesome for all the wrong reasons

The actors are so into it that it feels like live action roleplaying. I half expected character sheets to pop out at some time. I think there was about 85% exposition for a 100% envisioned universe. It's a weird universe and everyone seems to take everything for granted. That, and they made a hippie into a vampire! Rico and Jane seemed to be the most natural actors, but the stereotypes were still over the top and seemed to simply be plot points. And who wears cloaks anymore? We have to choose between the killers and frat-boy warlocks? It was a weird story with weird actor-based inflections and plenty of Goth kids hanging out in the corners. It endeared me in the way late night cable television always does and reminded me of some of the people I met in college. Not the "cool" kids necessarily, but the fantastical ones...He becomes the vampire version of the Kwisatz Hadderach. The movie becomes "American Ninja" times "Embrace of the Vampire." I think his name is a killing word.

can't disagree there.

Maybe Jason Connery and Tony Todd are secret role players. Maybe even part of Vin Diesel's Hollywood RPG circle. :)
