Fiction or Fact? (with Spoilers)

As a former submariner, I find this French film very intriguing. It's either fact or fiction. There is no mid-water. The film is full of so-called facts, but it is biased in its theme an American submarine torpedoed the "Kursk." However, there is no opposing view the U.S. was not involved. Unfortunately, I only saw the film once.

Regardless, it is worth viewing. I give it an 8 because it's an interesting take on what happened to the "Kursk."

It is great fodder for "conspiracy theorists."

I know it gets hard sometimes to seperate truth from so called "conspiracy theories" which don't have a very good sounding, however I was quite shocked by this documentary, which is made by very professional journalists. Just cause it's unbelievable and scary, doesn't mean it isn't true. Also the part where is shown how and why Vlad Putin started it's control on the Russian media is terrifying. Fascism and dictatorships AD 2004

What "professional journalists?" Messy hair, a wrinkled suit and a loose tie don't turn a researcher with a biased agenda into a professional journalist.

So...

To believe the theory put forth in this "documentary," we must accept that the Russian military would allow a US Navy submarine to sink one if its newest and most valuable vessels with no retaliation? Then the response of the Russian govenment is immediately to increase its communications and detante with the United States? Sorry, but that's nuts. Even after the colapse of the old Soviet Union, the Russians - and in particular the Russian Navy - were (and are) a formidable international force. Such an act by the US Navy would be a blatent act of war and would have been treated as such.

It didn't happen that way.

Those are some very naive statements. Putin is a very smart man, he wouldn't still be in power or have so much of it, if he weren't intelligent. Russia possess a great deal of technological know-how but its forces are starved of resources and money. They don't have the funds to operate the way the US or any other western power can.

This is why Russia has resorted to selling military technology to whoever it feels isn't a threat to the Russian federation. Russia is willing to whore itself out to anybody that has the money.

A communist state for half a century will not change completely in a decade. Putin wouldn't have thought too long about sacrificing 100 men for 10 billion in loans and erased debt from the U.S.

As for your statement that Russia would retaliate. It took a bribe instead. Its definitely better than Mutually Assured Destruction.
