THIS FILM IS COOL!

Forget the "Arrow in the Head" review, I caught this movie at a screening in Cannes last weekend and really enjoyed it. Dark, twisted and challenging (with liberal doses of very black humor) this is more "Rosemary's Baby" meets "Jacob's Ladder" than Jason-style slasher crap. It is something of a conundrum, but it makes a change for film-makers not to assume that the audience are idiots in need of spoon feeding. Probably not your standard multi-plex fare, but if you like to think about movies and you get a chance, do go see it.

It sounds very good. I love intelligent thrillers and they are few and far between. I am looking forward to it.

So, uh... do you ever do anything other than praise Dark Corners? Because every single one of your posts concerns this film.

I'm worried about you, 666. There's a whole bright world of horror movies out there, and all you want to talk about is Dark Corners!

How about Evil Dead 2, or The Hazing? Er, wait, it says here you didn't work on those films. So why would you talk about them? *grins*

Forget I said anything.

THIS FILM ISN'T COOL! DON'T WATCH IT! it's one of those where the bad guy attacks from everywhere like he is a god and the idea behind it is so annoying because it could be much worse (you know what i'm talking about if you've seen the movie). this is more for girls like 9/10 of all the new horror movies are...

it's not scary! gotta go watch alien 2 again.....

reply

first, alien 2 is called aliens, clearly you would know this if you had watched it.

second, the bad guy doesnt "attack from everywhere" since hes NOT REAL.
or didnt you understand that? only in the beginning and end is the bad guy real, the rest is all just a weird hallucination.

Scrappy, maybe you didn't feel as if you were treated like an idiot because you are an idiot. Rosemary's Baby and Jacob's Ladder are both phenomenal films which have quite clearly passed the test of time. This film will do no such thing. The script is utter garbage, the acting is uninspired, and the plot is anything but "challenging." How this managed to get anything above two stars is beyond me.

I'm gonna have to agree that this movie is complete and utter white trash, that is to say it's target audience seems to be lowest common denominator white trash teenage wannabe goths who's biggest problem in life is that their parents won't give them the money to go and see movies like this. boo hoo, everybody has nightmares and frankly I would have been more entertained had I fallen asleep. Seriously, am I supposed to feel sorry for Thora's characters because she's so tortured by those nightmares? Like I said, boo hoo. Try growing up and getting some real problems. Geez, my daydreams are more tortured than those.

This movie is lame and the only way to compare it to Jacob's Ladder would be by saying that Jacob's Ladder is like God to this worthless movie. I certainly felt like a sucker for watching.

Regardless of anyones comments, I've always made it a point to see a movie because I want to see it, not because of what anyone has said about it, mind you I do keep what people have said in mind, so thank you all for your opinions, but I think I'd like to see why this got bad reviews from you all. Off I go now :)

When watching Dark Corners, keep these things in mind... at the very beginning of the movie, "Thora"s mother is grieving over her death, listening to her last phone message. So we know that the Thora we're seeing is not the real one. It's made very clear that "Hell is an endless loop" and that's where the character is in this movie, in a psychotic hell. The whole film is supposed to be the tormenting nightmare afterlife of the psycho who killed Thora before the movie begins. Her death near the end is simply the killer reliving it.

finally someone who got it, lol

so in effect the movie is still quite ok

Not really...

Wow, you got it! I think this film went over a lot of heads.

I love it. While the acting isn't perfection, the direction is interesting and the story actually makes you think... imagine that!
