Miracle Day is like a new show

Anyone else agree that Miracle Day season is like a whole new show? With all new characters, new story line, new country.. Kinda sucks.. I'm on episode 5, hopefully it'll get better.. I miss the old crew and stories.. Even Captain Jack isn't in it that much.. :(

I suspect that you'll enjoy episode seven, which is very much the Captain Jack Show, and a bit old school. But yes, I would have to agree. Jack doesn't even seem like Jack most of the time. Understandable given the situation, perhaps, but it still didn't quite ring true. What's with the claim to be American? (And the scene when he makes that claim made me wince. His line about wanting Coke in order to contribute to "our global hegemony" was not only out of character, but quite appalling writing). Which isn't quite addressing your points, granted, but still! It didn't seem like the same Jack, and it didn't feel like the same show.

There are good bits. By no means was it all bad. It just felt like a completely different programme.

You're right, I did enjoy that episode, but in general.. It wasn't a real Torchwood season.. And I really didn't like how it ended with Rex! That's Jack's thing, you know? I'm disappointed because I really loved the other seasons.. Ah well.. On to reruns of Doctor Who! I need my real Captain Jack fix!

after i finished watching season 4 i decided to attribute jack out of characters behavior to him still mourning and feeling guilty over the lost of Ianto and Steven (and his daughter even though she lived), as well as the vulnerable situation, though less of that, of being human again- i'd imagine if for over 2k years you can't stay dead and than all of the sudden you can, well that can seriously *beep* with ones mind.

Episode 7 is probably the best of the MD series. It comes closest in feel to the first two seasons. There is one scene, you'll know it when you see it, that I think is more intense than any other episode of Torchwood.

Miracle Day is so horrible. This whole thing is an agenda driven political rubbish exploring issues with the medical system.

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

And the worst part about it was that I watched 10 episodes hoping for a cool answer but got "uh, there's a hole in the ground that stretches from China to Argentina. We don't know what it is or how it works but we figured it would be a neat party trick to throw some magic blood into both ends. And, gee wilkers, everyone on earth became immortal. Ain't that grand? Now we're gonna start part 2 of our vague plan and take over the world."

I felt the same way when I first watched Miracle Day. It didn't feel like the Torchwood that I fell in love with.

I actually didn't really care much for season 1&2, thought season 3 was mediocre at best and season 4 (MD) had the only storyline I personally really liked.

I do agree. As a fan of the original Torchwood, I really struggled to like Miracle Day.

I remember when the idea was first floated after Series 3 to move Torchwood to the US, Russell T. talked about how the characters would be re-invented for an American audience. I think they spoiled it.

I bought the show on Blu-ray just recently, but got it from the US (at the time, *much* cheaper than the UK release, and in really swanky book packaging). It was labelled as "The Complete Original UK Series"; when it arrived I was a bit surprised to see it had Children of Earth but not Miracle Day, but in hindsight I'm not sure I mind. Perhaps the fact that Mircale Day is still sold as a separate title means it's recognised they have different audiences.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
