It's a bunch of love stories intertwined. That's all we know right now. Let's not jump to conclusions before any details are released. That's how people make stupid statements. "Oh look, it's about infidelity! It must be a copy of Closer!" or "Oh look, Anil Kapoor is fat in Badhai Ho Badhai. It must be a copy of Nutty Professor!"

shareWell this movie definately has a lot of similarities. Its an ensemble movie with interwined love stories. Its high-profile and has pretty good pre-release buzz. This it has in common with Love Actually. I bet its gonna be good. I loved Kal Ho Naa Ho so I'm surely not gonna miss this one!

Obviously can't comment on the film because it is not yet released, but I have seen Love Actually and the concept seems very similiar and I personally think it's quite sad that noone seems to be coming up with original ideas in Indian cinema anymore. There seems to be this trend of copying, imitating, stealing ideas from hollywood films and it's getting tiresome. And not only that they are now having to copy the older films and remake them. What happened to fresh new scripts and ideas.

Well we cannot say for sure, but if that is true then it will be really unfortunate, coz nowadays our movies are also released in western countries as well and they will brand us as copy-cats. What a shame!
But I still have hope that it won't come to all that and the similarities will end at the concept of intertwined love stories only.

Shankar Ehasaan Loy have the easiest jobs in the industry as far as music direction goes.
First they got to lift the background score and a couple of songs off the old Don and compose tracks for the new Don with those.
Now they get to copy another background score.
Don was okay, since it was always meant to be a remake.
But this is too much. Don't these guys have the guts to tell the director that they refuse to base their SEI theme on the original one ?

1)Little kid falls in love with classmate, learns drum, chases her at airport - Nope
2)Depressed Writer with writer's block falling for housekeeper with language barrier - Govinda plays a cab driver who longs for a blonde haired siren to love. Yea, those are exactly alike
3)Prime minister falls in love with his secretary - Nope
4)Two naked body doubles fall in love - Nope
5)Ugly waiter goes to America with hopes his accent will score him babes - Nope
6)Best man is in love with his best friend's new wife - Nope
7)Head editor of newpaper flirts with an affair with a younger woman - This story does look similar with A.Kapoor's storyline
8)Young women has trouble balancing lovelife with her brother in mental institution - Nope
So out of all the storylines in "Love, Actually", there appears to be only one that could be similiar, and one that has "language barrier" in common. Hardly a copy. Those claiming that it is are lazy "critics" who don't do any research.

What happened to fresh new scripts and ideas? Well...Being a scriptwriter myself, I know how tough it is to even talk to a director/producer and then making them understand about the concept...Most of the times, these people don't have any clue with the possibilities of a story so the safest bet is to give them a DVD and let them see it like children.
Before Love Actually releasing, if you had gone to Nikhil Advani with the same story saying sirjee, different love stories in one movie, etc etc he would have spat on me! ;)
Well, that's the mindset anyway..

Kal Ho Naa HO was too inspired by "ANAND"..So its not like he was an innovator to start off with. Despite of that fact, I liked it and I am sure SALAAM E ISHQ is going to be pretty good.
not Love Actually! Please ... i hope thats not true ... i dont think any bollywood film maker will be able to do a remake of Love Actually. It was a class apart. I hope they dont even try.
i still think that comedies are the only original movies left in bollywood ... that only because our humor is different from UK and the US ... look at an Andaz Apna Apna or a Hera Pheri or more recently Munnai Bhai series ... some movies we can be proud of!

the only thing love actually and this movie have in common is the fact that it has multiple storylines about love. but each story line is completely different from love actually. the language barrier storyline is the only one that's kinda similar. if the love actually producers had a problem about this, they'd probably try to sue. but they're not, so...
