Is ita actually that BADDD

I have read a few reviews.& I tell U this. They are BADDD. I loved the music when it had come out and the expectations for the movie rose a lil high..

Can anyone tell me if its worth a look with some friends on a Sunday afternoon ???

thats me in the corner.........Mayur

reply

Totally depends on what type of movies you like. It's entertaining at parts, but def. wayyy below expectations. Plus its 3 hrs and 45 minutes long and it dragssssssss.
So it's up to you, but dont' expect anything great!

reply

Plus its 3 hrs and 45

That's not uncommon in Bollywood, Kollywood etc. films I mean KG3 was like 3 hours and 25mins. Some are 2hours and 45 or more etc. It just takes getting used to and remembering this isn't Hollywood it's not going to be a 90min comedy, 110-120min drama etc. And there's going to be lots of melodrama (which actually some of which the Hollywood film industry need to make better use on.)

Maybe it's because I'm simply a white Texan and I've only seen around 15 Bollywood films, so I'm obviously not the intended audience for this film, but I liked it a lot.

1) It's not a ripoff of Love Actually. Anyone who says that either hasn't actually seen Love Actually or hasn't seen Salaam E Ishq. The only storyline that is similar is the married/infidelity storyline.
2) The music is great, even though one of the songs on the soundtrack is cut from the film.
3)It is too long, but I still never looked at my watch.
4) Acting is solid throughout.
5) This film is beautifully shot.
6) Yes, several of the storylines are not particularly well writtten, but they are acted with enough passion, that it's easy to overlook. Govinda's storyline was the most enjoyable. I've read harsh reviews saying that the girl playing Govinda's muse was horrible. She did a good job and did not detract from the film. Those ripping her would probably rip Meryl Streep if she was in the film, just because she's from India.

Bottom line is this is a romantic popcorn film with a crowdpleasing ending. It's not supposed to be a deep film with a message (Rang de Basanti). It's not supposed to spark controversy(KANK). It doesn't have action (Dhoom 2). It simply presents several different characters, most whom are likeable, and hopes that you can identify with at least one storyline. If the movie was trimmed 25-30 min., I think most of the critic's would disappear. But again, I still enjoyed it and am planning to take friends to see it.

I am a huge Bollywood, fan, and I agree with everything you wrote. I just posted a similar comment on another thread. Aside from needing a 30 minute trimming, the movie is pretty good. It accomplishes what it sets out to do. A popcorn flick with plenty of laughs and warm and fuzzy moments.

i ABSOLUTELY AGREE you are so true!

maybe it's just me, but i think indians are WAY more critical about bollywood movies than other people. (by the way, i'm indian as well) I went with a couple of white and asian friends of mine, and they loved it. they didn't just like it, they loooved it. they never complained to me that it was too long or anything. but the two indian friends i went with were kinda critical about it. they were picking at every single thing they thought should have been fixed. they didn't like two songs, blah blah blah. now don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that it's just indians who are critical. maybe they are just expecting something better because they have seen better exectued indian movies than most non-indians. but i think that they're forgetting that these movies are just for entertainment and that there WILL be both positive and negative responses to these movies. personally, i liked this movie even though it did have some awkward moments. i didn't particulary like the salman khan and priyanka storyline. but there were more good parts than bad ones and most people are just highlighting the bad parts and not remembering the good ones.

that's just my opinon...

Best movie of this century undoubtedly.

Who are you kidding calonclick? There are soo many good movies! SEI doesn't come in their league.

The movie was horrible. The acting was HORRIBLE - except Vidya, John, Govinda & Juhi all were bad. The worst performance of the year should go to Mr.Salman Khan for his accent and his fake performance and Miss. Chopra for her hamming. I'm starting to wonder why the didn't rope SRK to play the role of Raool instead. At least he would've been tolerable!

reply

Agree totally!!

The movie was abysmal. The acting was putrid and the story.. well.. lets just say i wanted to tear my arm out and beat myself to death with it just half an hour into the movie. Its that bad.

reply

I liked it! It wasn't the best film I have ever seen, but it was good, oh but if you have young kids it might be a good idea to let them miss this, as there are various references to sex, well every scene to do with Sohail Khan was about it, around 5 or 6. But overall great film!

reply

I LOVED this movie! I can't believe people are calling this movie 'bad'! I mean remember places like indiafm, planetbollywood, and sulekha rated a crappy horrible film like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna an excellent movie. They have no taste! I absolutely enjoyed this movie and I am glad I didn't listen to the reviewers.

Ditto dude Ditto!

While I disagree with you about KANK, I agree with you about the critics.
