Ban on Hinglish!

Am I the only one that thinks the Indian government should put a ban on the use of Hinglish dialogs in Bollywood. Seriously, the way they go from one language to another in this movie really got on my nerves. Its like their ashamed to be speaking their mother tongue. Cinema promotes the culture and the values of ones country. If I wanted English movies, I wouldn't be watching bollywood now would I? And while the government is at it, it wouldn't hurt them to enforce copyright laws either!

Exactly. And the culture of today's urban India is that people tend to speak different languages like Hindi, Urdu and English mixed up in one sentence. I guess you are not from India or you at least have no knowledge about today's India.

Your right. I am from the United States. I've never been to India. But it pains me to see people from the your country speak English, as if there is something wrong with your native languages.
Their accents are anything but effortless!If u haven't realized by now, there are people here are making millions of dollars just making fun of the way Indians talk. The native English speakers here look down on the way you speak their language. Do everyone a favor, speak your own language and be proud of it.
Its surprising to me that even as an American my Urdu is far superior to native born Indians and Pakistanis. You see ten year olds on TV who can't speak a word of Hindi but they chat away in that annoying Hinglish. If it continues this way, they'll be no more Hindi speakers left. I can't understand what kind of parents would let their culture become so substandard like that.
It makes people like me wonder why these Indians would try so hard to speak a version of English that is hardly understandalbe to most Americans, rather than their own native languages.
Its not only English. Most of the customs prevailing in Bollywood are western and not Indian. It gives Bollywood the image of an inferior and cheap imitation of hollywood.
I can't understand why Indians kiss-ass anything that is American/ European. Why can't we just be proud of our own culture.

Its not the speaking of English that annoys me, its the combination of both languages and the crappy accents of the speakers. Neway, i suppose bollywood would always try to be hollywoods bitch. They copy the movies, the story lines and even the award shows. Remember the pictures thing in this years oscars? guess wat happened in the iifa awards? it was so pathetic it made me sick.
Prodigal-rooster, thank you for taking time out to find the mistakes in my english.I honestly pray that u have something better 2 do.U can go ahead and kiss-ass hollywood all u like if it makes u feel big. As for me, id rather be dumb than b some1 elses bitch.

Like i said, u need a hobby.
I did not refer to u as a hollywood kiss ass, i was talking about the numerous bollywood people who copy hollywood storylines, their styles, their ideas, their pictures, not to mention their names (Bollywood+Hollywood). And no, there is nothing sexy about an Italian/French/Latino butchering the language.
I have no problem with Indian people, being Indian myself. Rather it is out of pride in my culture that I wish these people will speak their/your/our native language rather than struggling to speak English.
U still did not answer my question about the oscars and the IIFA awards.Honestly, can u look at things like that and "Abhwariya" and not think that Indians are hollywood kiss-asses?

P.S. Please do not waste ur time correcting my English. I was born and raised in the US, and grew up with everyone around me speaking the language. This is the way i type and not the way i speak. I think its the new internet slang. Its just easier this way.

I've noticed that countries where English is spoken or the main language (especially here in the U. S.)people tend to usually on speak English. Now this isn't always the case as with Latinos etc. But many people believe that if you are in America you should only speak English etc. Many don't get the concept of mutliple languages and then are mad when they can't get a job because they aren't multilingual.

Well being that they are in another country they are going to speak in English as well as Pakistani or Hindi, Tamil etc. Just like we have Spanglish. You also have to remember that the language will change when you are in another country with different cultures. Do you really think Americans speak the way the British etc. do. No the British are always commenting on how we are messing up the languge by using words not in the English languge. The same people that like to use Fiance. English is a hodge podge of words as any language would be with cultures coming together. The U. S. had African slaves, Indians, Spanish, French, etc. and expect the language to stay the same is insane.

bollywood is reaching new levels but do they have to start copying the hollywood films. seriously this just shows how behind boillywood is compared to hollywood. i live in the UK and have parents that were born in india and even they agree with me. why do bollywood just simply copy hollywood movies. shouldnt there be copywrite laws?

In America, they speak a Patois they have the nerve to call "English". It isn't and never was. It has deviated so badly from "The King's Englishl", which is what the British speak, that even the rules of the language don't make sense.

Believe me, I know what I am saying since my parents originate from a former British colony, and I've lived in their country as well as in America and gone to schools in both.

The British make fun of the way we speak, I was ridiculed in school regularly. They look down on the way we have changed the words to THEIR SONGS.

Songs such as GOD SAVE OUR QUEEN, etc. Oh, I could go on, but the point is that using what is spoken as a ruler, is the wrong ruler, never will be the right one either.

Another thing, I have been helped with DELL computer problems with Indian customer service, and it has been stellar. They have been very compassionate and extremely helpful. I know there are others that complain, but not my family. I wonder if, I understand due to the fact that my family is from everywhere but America, so I understand many accents. Whatever!!!
