I've seen this movie a few months ago and it still hunts me.
The first 30 minutes were so-so, but after that I was sucked in.
I fell in love with lily who initially I thought was a spoiled kid but then realized that she was just a bit too sensitive, too gentle. And her father, who initially translated as a monster became so loving and tormented.
The ending for me was perfect. It put everything together. Lily's parents were protecting her from something they knew she couldn't live with.
Think about the sacrifice her father had to make. He lost his son, and now he has to pretend that his "runaway" son hates him just because he wants to keep his daughter safe.
It's remarkable, and it's made with such beauty.
A must see for everyone with the emotional capacity to hold this fine film.

I completely agree with your post, and you put it so well! I was interested in seeing the film, but I never predicted that I'd like it so much. I really felt for the characters, and their relationship was so truthful and realistic. Simply a beautiful film

i agree.
this is one of the most memorable films ive seen.
and the ending was indeed perfect...
