Too many plot holes for me, sorry (SPOILERS)

I am sorry but there are too many plot holes for me.

(1) Why did the parents keep his death from her? Some on here argue that she might have had a history of depression or drug abuse and was therefore vulnerable. But let's not forget that their plan was simply to tell her "we had a fight and he left". The letter-writing only came about after she was admitted to hospital. As any psychology undergraduate can confirm - the not knowing / worrying is far worse than certainty even if it confirms your worst fears.

(2) When she goes and tries to find him at the hotel, she is told he had checked in and left. Some argue it was her father setting it up but he's a bald man in his fifties - a fact that would normally come to light when you go about enquiring about your 20-yo brother.

(3) How come everyone in the village / suburb could keep that secret away from her? Yes, there is a reference to the suburb being anonymous and all but given they were twins, there would be hundreds of friends, acquaintances and so on that would have called her the minute they had heard about her brother's death. Now if her brother had vanished hiking in Tibet (and let's just ignore the press articles about "Young French hiker missing in Tibet" and all the rest of it), I could understand it. But I am sure everyone knew about his fatal accident. And even if they didn't and the parents had tried to cover up his death, I am sure his friends would have started to look for him and would have pretty easily come across the fact that he was dead and lying in a cemetery a few miles away. It's not as if she was a total stranger - she had been away for a month!

(4) And lastly, I don't know about you guys but none of my parents could even remotely fake my sister's handwriting (or mine for that matter). And I won't even go into the fact that you have to be a pretty talented con artist to mimick the way people write and express themselves to fool a twin! And if that "con artist" is a father who admits he hardly spent any time with his son and knew nothing about him, this is even more of a feast.

I really wanted to like the film and what it set out to achieve but there is a limit to my being able to forgive major plot holes on which the whole story is based.

Thoughts?

i agree with you and throughout the film the audience grasps that loic isn't alive anymore and so does she but sometimes we keep on with "faking" ourselves to keep on going.
in my perspective she subconsciously knew all along that her brother was dead but refused to believe it. besides the plot holes it was a good film.
it's funny that most french people i've met say that she's not a good actress but i have to disagree with that. even without saying a word she says so much. intense.
