'Valley of Angels' wins top prize at New York Film Festival

"Valley of Angels" has won top prize at the New York Film Festival. The festival announced on March 19th that it had won the Grand Jury Prize Award. Danny Trejo, Hollywood's number one bad-ass, won top honor as Best Actor in a feature. George Katt won the Breakthrough Actor Award. These awards are a testament to how great this film is! I saw the film at the festival premiere and was blown away. Awesome, kick-ass movie!

The film also won a major screenwriting award...

Are you kidding me!!! Danny Trejo was barely in the movie! He had maybe five lines throughout the entire film...

The NY Film Festival is a non-competitive festival that takes place in Sept/Oct every year. So this film was neither IN the NY Film Festival nor a winner thereof.

It was the NY International Independent Film Festival. The festival website is: www.nyfilmvideo.com.

That is strange. They don't even give out the same awards at each festival in the same year let alone different years. (AFAIK "breakthrough actor" was only given at the LA-March-07 festival, and that's it) Getting an award from the NY _International_ Independent Film Festival isn't something I'd get too excited about and it certainly doesn't change the fact that this movie has a terrible screenplay and even worse acting.
