Why R?

Why is it rated R for language? I can recall only one f-bomb...

The cock ring, and saying "cock sucker."

"Dorothy Mantooth is a saint!!"

When did everyone see this? I got to see a screening of it last year and thought it was pretty good...except for a few minor things. I wonder if they re cut the movie and what changes were made to turn it "R" rated?

Knowinf MIB as writer, he'll probably cram more crudities/profanities in just for the sake of having a profane film.

This I'm basing on his comments in re VH-1's I LOVE THE x0's series.

reply

I don't get the R rating either

Hmmm maybe for the "special ring" the dad gives jason biggs character?
I was just wondering, was I the only one who quite frequently saw a microphone bobbing into the shot? especially in the end where theyre all in front of the chappel and the police are standing there, the microphone (a grey one) is completely in the shot, like actually impossible to miss! Didnt they notice that during editing?!

reply

The microphone bobbing into frame is the fault of the movie theater operator, every movie has extra on the top and bottom and its the operators job to align the film properly; for extra when I went to see Super Bad there was a trailer for American Gangster and it was misaligned so thru out the entire trailer you could see the boom mics hanging above the actors.

It is not the projectionist fault, but the film editors and studio, and well, the boom operator. The frame is cut to pretty much match the aperture cut, which frames the image you see on the screen. Every once in a while the distributor will include a projectionist note notifying them there is a mistake in the picture, usually the boom showing in the shot, and will ask the projectionist to frame up a bit. You can only go so far before the frame below is showing, which is called a mis-frame. This is few and far between.

If you ever see a movie without an aperture plate framing an image you can see there isn't much room above and below the frame you are seeing, especially showing scope format pictures. Now that I'm working with digital we never need to frame a picture again. If the boom shows in the shot there isn't much we can do. The fault falls on the studio side, not the projectionist at your local theater.

This is not an R movie, don't know why it got that rating
