Not bad...but could have been better

I enjoyed many aspects of this film. However, it should not have spent so much time developing side characters and making gross-out jokes. The story between Anderson and Kate is very sweet and would have stood on its own as a romantic comedy (and would have given them a chance to develop a lot more). This movie should have aimed for a PG or PG-13...and if it had done so, it probably would have made a lot more money and grabbed a larger audience...not to mention it probably would have made it a better film.

So...this movie was OK. Good for some laughs...but won't stick with you after the credits roll.

This wasn't haut cinéma by any stretch of the imagination.
However, it was funnier and smarter than I had dared hope that it would be.
When I find a random movie like this on the shelf at Blockbuster, I consider it a win.

I agree with you. They really didn't develop Anderson and Katie's relationship much, so when they got together at the end, it felt rushed and not that very real.

I thought the movie started off kinda slow, then got much funnier the more it went on. I enjoyed the side characters in the film... the only thing that bothered me was where Jason Biggs could keep up an apartment & stuff with no job.

It was a pretty short film, I think if they could have edited down some of the beginning and added 15 minutes more developing Anderson and Katie's relationship, it would have been a better movie... still really enjoyed it.

For the one billionth time, Robin is NOT the mother!

I really might have LOVED this film had the timing not been so rushed. I felt that the main characters had so much promise, but they somewhat hollow and lacking depth which could have been achieved with less development of the side characters. Particularly Matador, who was miserable as comic relief as he was unnecessarily present on many scenes.
Consequently, her mother was just unbelievable and erratic in her acting. Additionally, the ending was kind of lame too. I think they could have landed a happy ending while tying up the loose ends much more easily by having one of those romantic comedy placating speeches at the end without the jailbird hysteria.
Otherwise, it is enjoyable as she's cute as hell and Biggs is - well... He's just the same character from American Pie.

Oh - and the Jewish jokes were dumb.

Didnt this movie come out on video in like 6 weeks or something?

I agree with most of these posts ... but I must say, the scene on the bus with the pregnant woman was a classic. Too bad it wasn't in a better movie.

Yeah.
