the first half of the game

I have been reading up on this game as I am thinking of buying it.

I understand that in the first half of the game you are Hartsock during the first 8 or so days of the invasion and are playing it from is point of view, but didn't Hartsock stay with Baker under his command from the morning of D-Day onwards? I don't see how you can play as Hartsock with him leading his own squad if he was under Baker's command all that time. I also saw on one of the gameplay videos on the BiA website that Allen, Garnett and Desola appear in Hartsocks squad. All of these soldiers were under Baker's command aswell.

Correct me if i'm wrong about the first half, but this is what i've read and seen on videos.

Thanks for your help.

If you paid close attention at the end of Road To Hill 30, you saw that Baker and Hartsock split up to defend the Carentan city. In Earned In Blood, the second half of the game picks up right after the ending of Hill 30. On top of that, Hartsock already got promoted to Sergeant.

The first missions are D-Day, D+1 and D+2(I think that is right. See Red was ordered, probably by Baker, to go out and kill these Germans. So Red did that. The next is D+7, which is Hill 30. As you know Matt Baker went alone to get the tanks, so the story there is blank. Then the next days, D+10, D+11, and D+12(I think that is right). The whole game is a flashback because Red is telling a Col. what happened to him and his squad mates. So the game is actual on D+15.

If I'm not mistaken, Red gets promoted on D+9... After the events on Hill 30/Bloody Gulch. That's the end of RtH 30.

EDIT: He was still Corporal, however. That could be why he was allowed to lead Desola, Allan, Garnett...
