English is a universally spoken language. Spanish is just a language that has become a trend, because of all those millions of illegal immigrants in the States.
The actors' accent isn't bad just because they don't speak english. It's bad because it is supposed to be so. It's one of the major rules in cinema. Always has been. When someone in an american film is supposed to be a foreigner he changes his accent on purpose. Benjamin Bratt can't speak good english?

I agree that the film should have been in Spanish. I believe that it took away the feel/ emotion that it was supposed to convey.
I understand that there has been an issue debated in regards to how Americans respond to subtitled movies. If this is the case and if the studio was heavily marketing the movie towards an American audience, then I understand why they chose to have an English dialogue.
But as a European who is accustomed to watching many films not in my language, I would have preferred to have watched this film in the same language that the novel was written in.
