Why is the movie rated so low?

The movie is just awesome and great, though the rating is under 5... I would like to know why people hate it so much...

I think the poor arating is as a result of 2 factors:

1) The acting is not that poor, but the German speaking English language crossover meant that the story lost some of the impact as the serious scenes were spoken with a German accent.

but also most importantly -

2) At this time the film has only been given limited release in 2 European countries (Germany and Austria)and as part of a US film festival. I would therefore conclude that the low scoring is as a result of very few people having seen the movie.

I myself managed to catch it while I was in Berlin at the one cinema which was showing it and at that showing there were only four persons present including myself.

It's a pity because although is is not the best film I have ever seen it is by no means one of the worst I have ever had to sit through.

I rate it a 6 (on a scale of 1-10).

It's not that bad, I mean you have to believe that Til Schweiger's character can be that stupid or unlucky, and half the movie seems to take place in a court room (this may be an exaggeration but it felt this way).

I mean, it's certainly not a top tier level movie but it's watchable and I've certainly seen much worse.

The female character is raped. Therefore the victim impact is shown from a female perspective.A male was not raped. What exactly is misandrist about this scenario?
You unfortunately are working from a position of fundamentally misunderstanding the concept of feminism, equating the highlighting of the erosion of female rights with the erosion of male identity.
Are you aware that its painfully obvious that you are obviously sexually insecure and a misogynist? Not archetypically strong male traits now are they?!

Interesting though to come across such a deeply prejudiced person once in a while!

Every woman in the film is angelic. Every man in the film is a dirtbag. It's pretty obvious that the film maker has an agenda, and that agenda does not hold a very complimentary view of men in general. Not that it's a horrible movie, it's just the same old "man as predator" cliche. If the film maker had the inclination or imagination to create some characters that were more than just hollow stereotypes; or to create scenes that did more than just hint at being shocking, then this might have been a truely powerful rather than simply mediocre film.

For those who wish to see much better films dealing with similar issues, I would recommend both "I Stand Alone" and "Irreversible" by Gaspar NoƩ.

Because its one of the worst movies ever made. Its totally unlogical that you would cover up a rape of your best friend. If my best friend would have been raped, there is no way I would put my career before her. Its just dumb and Im very sorry for Till Schweiger that he took the role. No wonder he came back to Germany.

I havent actualy seen this film yet,but when the average comment on it by people who have seen it is 'not the worst movie i ever seen' it puts me off wanting to. When read the main review i was all excited and looking forward to finding it,but when most indicate its best attribute is they have seen worse,i was put off,so may never see it now anyway.

because it's terrible. Badly acted ... how did Til Schweiger ever get a job as a professional actor - the man couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag ... Badly written ... the dialogue is laughable - that pitch Eddie makes in the first 10 minutes is a joke - straight out of Bewitched. Badly directed. The brother goes from being pretty benign to being evil incarnate in the space of less than two scenes. Awful. I couldn't even get through it once.
