So...what did everyone think about the premiere episode of Alice, I Think???

Personally, I think that Alice's brown hair is terrible, compared to the funky blonde 'do she has in the previews - but I think that's the point!

Linda is wonderful (as book-to-screen goes); Bob is brill; and I lurve Alice's wardrobe!!!

However, I hate how they jumped into the computer thing already ... that happened like halfway thru the book, didn't it?

Anyways, what you all think then?

i liked it.. i hope it does well. and yeah, the blonde hair in the previews looks much better than the brown.. at least it looks like it will be blonde in the next one..

I thought it was really, really dumb.

For some reason I was looking forward to it, based on the commercials - I've never heard of the book.

There were a few parts that I thought might have been leading to something funny, but it just fell flat.

I hate how they just THREW us into the family. I guess they are supposed to be a quirky family, but I really didn't get that impression. It was just kinda bored. I guess the idea is to show us how the family is thought everyday situations, but I think the show would be better if they introduced us to them.

I guess I was expecting this show to be very clever, but it just seemed so, I don't know, simple or something. I think the situations could have been funnier if the writing and acting (ie the parents) were better, or if it were edited at a faster pace or something. It needs *something*.

I think I'm not making much sense, because I don't know *exactly* what I disliked about the show (and I watched it at 3:30am so I'm not thinking straight, haha). I think it just doesn't know what kind of show it wants to be. I thought, since it's on Comedy, it might be a little sharper than something you'd elsewhere, but really it seems to be aimed at a younger audience, almost like a Disney show. It's just too straightforward - even the fantasy sequences were lame.

Overall, not so good.

Ya I agree with you (MuggleLoverAtHeart), how they went straight to the computer bit. and what was with the dad? he wasn't supposed to be like that in the book. and bob was supposed to more edgy or gothic (satanist even!). overall i found the show average. but most shows pilot episodes are, so things might look up for the show.

Personally, I really didn't like it. I thought that the acting was really bad, and I dunno, the writing wasn't very good either, for the first episode anyways. I just didn't like the feel to the show.

Unfortunately I didn't see the first episode, I only saw the second one, but found it was really funny! I haven't read the book, so I can't really say if it missed out on some stuff, but I'd say to give the show a chance and forget about the book! I mean... think of them separately! Lord of the Rings was a cool trilogy, and IT left out a lot of stuff that was in the books! :-)
And I don't see anything wrong with the acting... actually, they all seemed very good to me!
Yeah, the show is "light", but that's good! It seems good for all ages! :-)
So keep the episodes coming!

sorry to hear that dylon. comedy is subjective. maybe you need the slap in the face and brutally simple and obvious comedy. some of us need the thinking man's style and want the quirky mixed with slapstick humour of Alice I think, but i digress - comedy is subjective.
