not half as good as the books

i've read all the alice books and this show doesn't really measure up. characters are left out and random ones are added. it's kind of disappointing.

I agree with you. I was so excited when I heard the show was comming out but it was a big disappointment for me. I LOVE the books so much.

I've only read the first book, but I feel they adapted it rather well. Sure, there are some changes, but nothing is ever adapted perfectly. I love the show :)

Each to their own, though!

I loved the show. I thought they did a good job with adapting it from the books. The show was a bit lighter, but it really worked for me. I thought by the end of the season it was getting really excellent. I'm hoping for a second season!

Yeah but I think the portrayel of Alice is very strong; it hold the show together...

I think you hit the nail on the head with "I imagined all the characters...different in the show." I have had that problem repeatedly with movies.

As someone who saw the show first, then realized my mother owned the book and borrowed, I think the adaption is excellent! There are some differences, obviously, but I would expect that considering the writing style (bound to be a lot of changes when adapted from a diary style). I already had the executives' interpretation of the show in my head, and it worked that way, for the most part.
