Are they not allowed to say Ouija board? We played with them when I was in elementary school, and we never called them spirit boards.
I always felt like the other person was pushing it, so once I asked a question like "What is the Capitol of some state?" The spirit must have been uneducated because the planchette just moved around randomly.
Is there some kind of copyright law about saying the name?
It was pretty dumb. Other shows have called it ouija with no problems from Hasbro as far as I know. I never heard spirit board when I was growing up too and we had one.
It's pretty funny how people like Zaffis try to say the board opens up portals to the other side and they are so dangerous. There must be millions and millions of portals around, with all the copies of the game that have been sold since the 1800's.
The actor playing Zaffis was awful! Even by re-enactment actor standards.
I also found it hard to believe that he showed up at their house only knowing their names and that something was going on. When they told him about the board and Sylvia it was like they were telling him for the first time.
We didn't have one, but I played with them at slumber parties and friends' houses. If there were any demons around, I guess we were young enough to be protected.
I remember being with a boyfriend who was buying gifts for his niece, and he bought her one. We checked it out a little before he wrapped it up.
We asked it how old I'd be when I got married (I was 18) and it said 23. Then, we asked it how old he'd be when he got married again (he was 25 or 26 and divorced, and he'd been asking me to marry him). I think it said "63."
We both started laughing so hard that we gave up playing with Ouija. I did get married for the 2nd time at 23, barely, and I'm pretty sure he got married again before he was 30, but long before 63.
Another funny thing was that when I got in contact with him about 25 years ago, he and his wife were ultra-religious, and most likely their religion would consider Ouija boards as evil.
