Some TV footage of the original Broadway cast is shown (from the 1977 Tony Awards telecast), but that's it.
It is basically a documentary about numerous girls who played either 'Annie' or one of the orphans during the original Broadway run of ANNIE (1977 to 1983), either on Broadway or in the many national tours of the show. The documentary focuses on what happened to these girls (now women) after their ANNIE gig, etc. Some have continued work as actresses (Sarah Jessica Parker and Allison Smith), others remained public figures and others just became regular wives and moms. They speak about their lives as child actresses; what it was like working in ANNIE, etc. Focus is also given on legendary stage mothers and how competitive some were, etc.
Its not a documentary about the musical ANNIE or the 'making of ANNIE' -- it is simply a documentary about girls who worked in the musical of ANNIE and how it affected their lives afterwards.
