this was just so terrific! buster keaton, jacques tati, jules feiffer: they would all be thrilled. Now PLEASE make another full length one, you talented threesome!!i'll be first in line.
(For those of you searching for this, I saw this tonight on a newly released DVD ,borrowed through my local library.)
i saw their latest- Rumba -tonight in Boston at the MFA's French Film Fest. Filled with fun, delight, cleverness. Not as good as Iceberg but certainly a treat.
Ad hoc, Ad loc, Quid pro queeee, So little time and so much to see
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed this off-beat, quirky film!
I am no film historian, but I do enjoy Buster Keaton films, as well as the Jacques Tati films - and I could clearly see their influence in this film - almost an homage in fact.
Once you get used to the pace and film style - it is visually stunning and full of great moments (the bed scene was surreal) - I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I looked up the actress since I was totally unfamiliar with her - I thought her resemblance to Tilda Swinton was interesting and that the actress was also a great swimmer, as well as being a superb athlete, physical performer.
it's so funny you would post this. i've also been struck by her tilda swinton-ish look. it's the tall and thin thin thin i think! hope you get to see their other films!
