Real Lucid Dreaming...

So after seeing this movie Lucid Dreaming seemed kind of interesting. I have mostly read stuff online through crap sites like Wikipedia etc... I dont really have money to buy books etc.

I know its key to have a dream journal, which I think I will start. But can anyone direct me to learn some more about Lucid Dreaming? All I can really find are the generalizations, and the common things like checking for reality in dreams.

Thanks

long story dude, i don't have a journal but still have some lucid dreams, it's basically how often you think and practice during daytime that helps you to dream lucid. wikipedia crap?

just sit down a couple of times during daytime and ask yourself these questions

what am i doing here
how did i get here
is this real/am i awake
what did i do 30 minutes ago
am i dreaming

if you can answer the questions to yourself without a doubt in your mind, you're probably awake.

if you can't, you're either on drugs or dreaming.

from there you'll have to have a reference point, use your hands to look at. if you can look at your hands in your dream? you're far. also look at your hand during daytime, may sound stupid but it's useful.

from there it's playtime basically, everything you think of happens.

also if you think something can't happen, like when you're flying and suddenly you think, no this can't be, it will stop, so be confident in the dream or it will change.

good luck, btw, it might take a while it's pretty hard

Are your typical dreams very vivid? Do you wake up and remember details about your dream? Can you tell someone hours later, "Man, I had a crazy dream!" and then go on to tell them some details about it? If you said yes, then you probably don't need a dream journal. If you wake up and barely remember anything, you should start a dream journal.

Reality checks are the name of the game, period.

Pick something that can't happen in your waking life. For me, it was trying to push the index finger of my right hand into the palm of my left. Nothing happens, obviously, but in my dreams, my finger painlessly goes through my palm. That's how I know I've gone lucid. Reality checks are something that you should do several times a day (you can't do them too much, the more you do them, the better), and when you dream, you'll find yourself doing these things, and that will make you go lucid.

Doesn't have to be anything as gruesome as what I do, some people look at a page of text, look away, then read it again. In most lucid dreams, the page will have changed, or will be made up of symbols that make no sense. I often find that clocks (especially digital) in dreams don't make sense. So, some people look at a wristwatch many, many times a day so that they might do that in their dreams.

Look around on the internet. There are some great sites. Keep at it, you can achieve it. And, when you do...there's nothing at all like it in the world. It's like the best Twilight Zone episode you've ever seen, starring you.

I just watched this movie because it was interesting but I have been lucid dreaming my whole life.
Not all the time and it goes in spurts. I started as a kid that I could control my dreams. I could even wake up and go back and finish the dream. I still do it once in a while. Never really thought about it much. No switches or hands that I remember. I did write some dreams in detail that were not lucid and they are way out there and make no sense at all.

@Benicky. I am so jealous.

I've always had vivid dreams all my life and i used to be able to Lucid dream years ago. I used to be able to wake up.... do something like go to the bathroom or get a drink and go back to finish the dream. lol I used to be able to make choices in my dreams too like in the movie but i don't know what happened. i stopped the ability to be able to do it in the last 3 yrs and I now long for the day where i can get it back. lol
