questions for those who remember

1. According to the box scores, the losing teams did not pull the goaltenders in the last minute despite 4 or 5 of the games being won by 1 goal including the final game. I know Canadian players remarked they expected the russians to pull Tretiak after the henderson goal in the final game but there was no final flurry. I know European teams have been reluctant to pull their goaltenders even to this day but does anyone know the exact reason why this never happened?
2. On the subject of goaltending, why did Dryden get 4 starts? I did watch every game and only one of his starts was he strong (game 6), the other 3 he was weak. In contrast, Tony Esposito was 2-1-1 and very strong in the 3 games he did not lose. The goaltending rotation seemed confusing. Dryden played game 1, Espo played 2 and 3 and the 2 alternated the remaining games. In fact even after Dryden's only strong game (6), they went back to Esposito yet despite Espo being strong , they seemed to go back to Dryden each time.
3. On the subject of the infamous tying goal in the final game in which Alan Eagleson was nearly arrested: does anyone know what would have happened if he did not create the rucus? The goal judge did not turn the light on but the referee did signal a goal. Would the goal have counted?
