'Offers' was just aired on the Dutch channel Nederland 3. My sincere respects for Maryam Hassouni, the Emmy was well deserved.

But, usually I understand endings in movies. Here, it's a little vague. What happens exactly? It seemed to me that the Dutch branch of the secret service was ok. So, the corruption was commited by the Americans? If that is the case, I don't see the reason WHY they were corrupt. To me it seems very unlogical that an Amercian choses the way of Jihad, but I guess I'm touching the dark right now. It's very confusing, but I'm sure some people on this forum can enlight me.

And as for Jacob Derwig, he is considered as a terrorist and shipped away to the US?

Great movie!

I think that the idea of the ending is that the US goverment is trying keep the terrorist-groups alive while they have them a little bit under control. By keeping the terrorist-groups alive, the people are scared of terrorism (the big idea behind Fahrenheit 911). While the people are scared, they'll allow the goverment to take big anti-terrorism measures (patriot act)...

Ziyi asked why Leila was killed at the end... At least that's what I'm getting from him/her. (sorry als ik het fout heb...)

I personally found the ending very strange too.
Obviously the secret service never did what they said they'd do. They didn't come up with the power problems to control cell phones.

Haron was arrested and it seemed that the secret service was gonna get Leila save too. But this one guy, the blonde guy blew her up.

Who exactly was he and what was the difference between him and the other dude Haron had meetings with...?

But amazing job by Maryam!! Well deserved!!

Misschien komt ie nog wel op DVD.
Na de Emmy heb je daar wel kans op.

HERE IS THE SPOILER

Laila had an USB stick with compromising information for the CIA (I assume), she wanted to use this as a an insurance policy against the American secret service. Deal was that she would hand that information over and she would get a free passage in return. She had it with here when they were sent out for the bombing.

However, the CIA didn't want to take any risk. So once Laila and Haron are isolated, they blow up the USB with the owner. In the end that's the only way to be 100% sure that Laila would never talk with anyone about that info. Haron obviously needed to die with her as she might have shared information with him. As he did wear a bombvest too he also exploded by the signal. And the info never even existed...
