Where's Cable?

When I was first playing the game I didn't even really think about Cable. But then when I saw Stryfe was in it, I wanted Cable. I mean, I know they weren't doing the X-Cutioner's song storyline, but Cable never would let Stryfe go to the past without being right behind. I think he would have been a good unlockable character atleast. And if nothing else they could have thrown him in as somebody to talk to like they did with Kitty Pryde.
