Wow..Omaha

I left Omaha in 2/2006. I worked at a coffee shop downtown. Had no idea this movie was even being filmed there...I knew of one move called Imitation Life where I know the writer, extras, actors, places it was filmed. Someone said there was another movie being filmed around that time, maybe this was it.. Anyways, I find it really dumb that anyone would want to film a movie in Omaha, and normally if they do it makes Omaha look dumb too. And everyone who is so excited that the Hollywood people are in Omaha are such wannabes. MOVE TO CALI OR NYC. Little fame has come of Omaha, and there is nothing to do there! That is why I left..

There may be little to do in Omaha but they sure have great steaks and the second richest man in the world(Warren Buffett). He is one of the nicest people on the planet and if our elected officials were as honest, decent & caring as he, the US would be a much better place :)

I remember when they were filming this. I forgot about it. And then also moved out of it because of there being little or nothing to do.

When did this movie actually come out? I don't even remember hearing about it after it got filmed.

little fame out of omaha??????

Marlon Brando, Fred Astaire, Nick D'Agosoto, Swoosie Kurtz. Just a few of the many stars to come out of Omaha and some of whom are acclaimed as some of the best actors ever. Little talent out of Omaha is a ballsy opinion.

I grew up there and left a few years ago. I don't think anyone doubts that people in Omaha may have talent, but in the film industry, you need to LEAVE OMAHA in order to get any kind of recognition. So far in entertainment, the Saddle Creek kids are the only ones who are getting acclaim while still living there.

Maybe it's hard to believe, but a city can be a nice place to live even if they don't make films here. Like any city, Omaha is as interesting as you want to make it. I can find plenty to do around here.

you bet! Life is what you make it. Sin city Omaha likes that everybody (even a lot who live here) believes we are drab and boring. ;)

You do realize that Alexander Payne's films are shot in Omaha (except for Sideways-ironically his least best to date) and they are great.
And also, I hate to break it to ya. There is little to do in bigger cities that you can't do in Omaha. There may be more places to do the same thing in bigger cities but everything bigger cities have I've found Omaha does too.

I just watched this movie. Terrible!!! Nebraska isn't a horrible place to live, but it makes Nebraska people look like a bunch of losers. I'm disappointed. Not everyone is like that here.

Someone has issues with Omaha! I thought the main point of the discussion was the movie. Yes - the movie was filmed in Omaha, as were several others. Movies and stories aren't relegated to filming in Cali or NYC - and the fact that the movie was filmed in Omaha and not a studio backlot adds to the authenticity of the script and its characters.
