The whole thing was just basically RW doing his standup routine

Did you guys realize how Robin Williams was pretty much doing his standup material in most of the scenes? I mean, I know he uses the same jokes all the time, it's obvious from his talk show appearances, he even reused some on his latest DVD from the 2002 Broadway DVD..

But if you've seen the 2010 Weapons of Self Destruction DVD, there he talks about the ethanol car, helium car, all that stuff that's in this movie.. The Brazilian pope also comes to mind from somewhere maybe from the same DVD or just some talk show he did..but basically 99% is his own material.. not cool. It's not that they're not good jokes but he (or the scriptwriter) should have written new ones, some fresh material. Or maybe Robin should stop using jokes for years and years, stop being lazy. I know many comedians do this, hell even Bill Hicks was doing the Kennedy joke for pretty much all his career, but still, a new joke here and then would not hurt anybody.

If you have ever seen a Robin Williams stand-up routine you would know he acts differently in the movie. In reality he jumps around the stage, does idiotic (yet funny) voices and etc, while in Man of the Year he does stand-up calmly even if the jokes are generally the same, saying this was all just stand-up is just wrong.

Thank you. Came on to this board to see if I was the only one who noticed that.

This movie has about on hour of non-plot material. It's just cringe-worthy, and even more so to see that some people actually mistake this Gigli-esque for a fresh and intelligent movie.

Not to mention the end crack about Joan of Arc being Noah's wife. Who doesn't remember "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure"?
