In the case of movies, I think "interesting" takes higher precedence over plot holes or camera angles or whatever "flaws" there may be (and yes they would be flaws, but personal ones; just as my personal opinion is "'interesting' takes higher precedence," and to a broader extent, my opinion of what "interesting" even is). Unless, of course, the "flaws" are simply too great to be ignored and they take me out of the movie, and make me think about the flaws more than the actual story the film's trying to tell.

On my personal grading scale, 6/10 is a kind of subpar movie, while 7/10 is a decently solid film, and 8/10 being a kind of above-par movie. (9/10 is rare, and 10/10 barely existant.) Of course, I have also judged several movies below 6. Either, for whatever reason, it seems this movie "spoke to me" more than you, or the priorities I judge movies on are different than yours (notice I say "different," and not "better" or "more correct").

Thought I'd give you a little background and explanation as to why I voted 8/10, and why I don't think I was being too generous. If you're curious you can see my voting history here: http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=28652643

Haha, yeah, Black Devil Doll was a joke really; there's no way that movie is more than like a 4. But don't be too quick to knock The Storyteller; if you enjoy Jim Henson productions (Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, MirrorMask, ect), or just a plain great story, you won't be disappointed. Each episode is based on an old folktale from various parts of the old world. Good stuff. :-)

As far as your scoring is concerned it seems we judge movies pretty much the same. I especially agree with the "10" score - perfection isn't possible, so it's up to sentimental attachment to push it over 9. I do think I'm a bit more lenient than you though.. that might be because I've seen many, many crappy no-budget zombie movies that are doing "good" if they're a 5, so perhaps I've seen more bad movies than you and have more to compare against. Haha, not that seeing more bad movies is something to boast about.

And your English is fine. Better than some Americans.
