Maybe it's just me but...

First things first, loved the film. Almost everything Neil Marshall has done has been under-rated. Recognised the references that have all been mentioned below (Aliens, all the first 3 Mad Max films, 28 Days Later - yadda yadda).

Did anyone else get reminded of the 1984 film "She"?

One of the first films I ever watched (at about age 10) when we got our first VHS. Admittedly rough around the edges (actually pretty rough in the middle too) but just an episodic yet joyous celebration of the old ultraviolence with idiosyncratic touches left, right and centre.
Plus one of the best IMDB synopses of all time - "In a backward post-apocalyptic world, She aids two brothers' quest to rescue their kidnapped sister. Along the way, they battle orgiastic werewolves, a psychic communist, a tutu-wearing giant, a mad scientist, and gladiators before standing against the odds to defeat the evil Norks."
