my 2 cents
I saw Chasing 3000 at Tribeca, and I think it's a great film. It's a "feel good" story that works - that is, it doesn't sink to sappy. And it has a lot to offer: the growth in the relationship between the two brothers, the baseball backdrop, the road trip, a great cast. One of the leads (Rory's character) is handicapped, but its cool that that's not really the focus. It has good tension as the brothers bounce from one predicament to another. Rory and Trevor are believable as brothers. "Production values" are good, the music is good. M. Emment Walsh's character is a hoot. Teenagers can relate to the kids. And Boomers will relate to the 70's music and "feel".
I was never a big baseball fan, but that's really not required to appreciate this film. In fact, learning a little about Roberto Clemente and gaining a small sense of the awe and respect for him as a larger than life personality that permeates this film is just one of the unexpected benefits that awaits those viewers that don't happen to already be baseball fanatics.
A pleasant surprise! Chasing 3000 get's a big "thumbs up" from me.
