Damien's fast drive from LA to NY!

When Frankie calls Damien and he drives from LA to NY to meet her, it appears that the trip took several hours. He drives that red sports car that he bought while he was staying at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel with his Russian bride.
He must have been driving very fast and he was lucky that the cops did not pull him over.

If his car can go THAT fast, I think I would like to buy it!!!

When did the show ever say they live in Chicago? I don't know where they are at but damn... you are right.. it took what a few hours to get to her.. I now place my bid on THAT car... for the speed....lol

It's one of those flying cars we all thought we were going to have by the year 2000, lol! Jetson style.

reply

It's not a car, it's not a plane, IT'S A HOVERCRAFT!!

But seriously, when he arrived in what it looked like a couple hours later, I thought, wtf? where did he came from, New Jersey?

I think the only mentioning of where they live was the state lottery, that like someone above me said, it was from Illinois.

haha

On Thursday's episode, they went to an Illinois prom. The street sign in the town they were shopping in said Illinois 7.

reply

I just watched the episode and Damien tells Frankie that he got there by a short flight and a long cab ride.

reply

Nope... we are talking about a different episode. Or for that matter it might be the same episode but what we are talking abotu is when Frankie calls Damien and he jumps in the car.
With your logic there is no way the car he drove leaving the house could be the same one they are driving around in now.

reply

We know that Damien was staying at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel with his Russian bride. This hotel is a short drive across town from his parents' home. We know that Frankie is in New York City. This tells us that that car made a very fast trip across the country in both directions.

It appears that on the return trip, after leaving New York, that they made a quick stop in Illinois, where they tried to sneak in to a high school function.
The next morning, they are pulling up to his parents' home in suburban Los Angeles.

That car is one FAST car!!!

reply

This show is not in California. Damien is not in L.A. and the suburb is not in California.
Don't know where you get your info.. .but for one thing.... they didn't win the "California lottery" and since the Powerball hasn't been in California that long... I don't think they would have used it for this show.
I do feel that they are completely stretching the truth with how far and fast this kid could go with that car.
Illinios (which someone pointed out before is the plates they have on the car) and the time it would take to travel to New York (where we KNOW Frankie's mom took her to get away from the rest).
Can you show me where and when the show EVER mentioned that they were in California?

reply

i think people just assume its Cali, since taht's where its filmed, and explains the nice weather on the show...

reply

Ok. All of you are going WAY too far with this. It's simple! It's a "TV" show. The entire premise is silly. The total of the Powerball was $386 mil. Explaining how 19 people got 20 mil each, but um... This was the Powerball, which DOES NOT PAY OUT THE MAX MONEY instantly. If you want money NOW, they give you a percentage of it, & then take taxes out of that. The only way they would have gotten $20 mil each as a lump some is if the jackpot was close to a billion dollars. It wasn't, it was $386 million. As a lump some, after taxes, they would have gotten about 9 million each. So, the story starts off fake.

Then, they all agreed to give Sunny $1 mill each. Which would mean she had $19 mil! ($1 mil times 19 people equals???) If that's the case, how is it that Sean had $10 mil, & Tally had only a "few hundred thousand less than 10 mil." (The money that Zoe or that shady lawyer took!) Did they suddenly come up with more money than the $20 mil? Sunny stated "I only have $1 mil less than I should have, but then, so do all of you!" So all of the rest of the winner should have $19 mil. So there's another hole.

The show has never actually stated where they are supposed to live, other than the girls mother moving to NYC, so we know they don't live in NYC. Yes, the car's had Illinois license plates. But then, for that matter, Powerball tickets are not sold in Illinois. We have Mega Millions. Powerball is in Indiana & Wisconsin, but not Illinois. They never mentioned going to another state to get the tickets.

This is a prime time soap opera. It follows the same type of story lines as All My Children & One life to live & all the rest of the daytime soaps. Nobody's life is THIS drama filled. But it makes for great TV. Stop trying to analyze every little bit or your going to lose out on enjoying the show. It is a complete fabrication. Just take it for the fluff it is & don't try to make sense of it!

reply

i was gonna say.....theres no powerball in illinois. glad someone mentioned that!

i agree on it not being california....i thought north carolina or some eastern state...

reply

who cares i think its just a fictional place...

and i don't think the writers care anyway... it doesn't really matter that much to the plot...

NYC is used because everyone knows about it...

most people aren't as familiar with states like Illinois or NOrth Carolina or wherever...

reply

I don't recall them ever mentioning Powerball, just lottery. So I assumed they had all won a fictional state or multi-state lottery, which apparently pays you the sum total of your winnings, probably leaving it up to you to pay the taxes.

$386 20 ways is $19.3 million each. Divided 19 ways it's $20.3. So the original winners won 20 mil each.

What I don't get is Sunny getting her unearned cut, what with everyone involved knowing she didn't chip in. There's no way I would've given in like that. I'd've taken her to court and fought it out hard.

reply

So you would have honestly let them tie up all winner's funds for a possablity of years, since we all know how the legal system is? Only people that would have been rich after that legal battle would be the lawyers.

reply

Well, there's no way I'd give Sunny a million dollars for being a complete bitch.

reply

Sunny has turned out to be a lot better now...

she's alot better than Nina... Peter should dump her for Sunny...

reply

They DID in fact mention Powerball when they won. It was on the tickets.. & on the big sign at that gala they went to & took the group photo!

& It would appear that Peter IS going to be with Sunny, thou, it appears Nina is having 2nd thoughts now!

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

even if Nina wants back, why the heck should Peter take her back at all??

she cheated on him with HIS best friend...

reply

It can't be the Powerball. The winning numbers were 12-9-19-7-1. Five numbers. Powerball is six. Therefore, it cannot be Powerball that they won.

reply

It was in fact, suppose to be Powerball... Again... it's not accurate. Which was my point. Powerball is not played in Illinois, but they all have Illinois plates. My entire point of mentioning the powerball thing was to say, the show is not ment to be taken seriously. It has to many geographical mistakes & plot holes. Just enjoy the story!

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

Why would Peter take Nina back... Well, in real life, because he still loves her & thinks he wants to be with her. But I believe, in real life, once he got her back, he would start having visions of her being with Cameron & it wouldn't work. At least not for a while... He would need some SERIOUS time to get over that. But on the show... He'd take her back because it's good drama. Then they'll have problems & he'll blame it all on her or something else equally as dramatic. As I've said before. Windfall is a primetime version of "All my children" or "One life to live". Everything is done for maxed dramatic effect. No matter how preposterous it may seem.

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

You are on the right track with the Power Ball payout ( even though any lotto I have ever heard of pays out much less for lump and withholds taxes in the same manner). Actually it would have been even less. Because Powerball pays out about 1/2 for the lump sum option and then takes almost 1/2 of that in taxes. If 20 people split a $380 mil lotto( sorry forgot the exact amount here, so rounding), it would come to about half that for the lump sum option, so lets say $10 million each. Then they would take out taxes and it would endup probably between $5.5-6 million or so.

reply

so you are saying if you were Peter you would take Nina back?? if your spouse cheated on you with YOUR best friend?

my point is in real life it would be PROPOSTEROUS for Peter to take Nina back...

she slept with HIS best friend! and is IN love with HIS best friend...

i mean he'd have to be the biggest doormat in the world to take her back...

reply

my point is in real life it would be PROPOSTEROUS for Peter to take Nina back...

It's not, though. It happens.

reply

it happens much more often with women taking men back... women sometimes can be too forgiving...

men only are willing to take the woman back if they are so desperate and like i said, they are like a doormat and have no self-esteem...

reply

When it comes to H'wood's " wife-is-cheating-scenario", RARELY does the man refuse to take her back. Usually, HE ends up going back & after thoroughly blaming himself for her cheating, wants to reconcile. Think of all the movies & TV shows where this scenario plays out. Either he never confronts her, or if he does, he has a momentary flash of anger, then instantly forgives her! It's rare to see a man in the movies who'll dump the wife for cheating! On the other hand, a woman who dumps a cheating husband, is applauded! In fact, most times they'll go out of their way to justify why she cheated in the first place. She's then presented as being "brave", & the affair is "romantic"- as opposed to how f--ked up it is to be cheating on her husband. This double-standard is alive & well in most movies & tv shows! In real life, the numbers for men who'll take back a cheating wife, are much lower than for women who'll take back a cheating husband. Yet, as usual in H'wood, left is right, up is down, and reality doesn't count! Guaranteed on tonite's show, Peter will take her back!

reply

Either that, or to get revenge, he goes out and sleeps with another woman, which seems to be the way Peter is leaning with Sunny. Then, the wife comes back and they talk and he admits to sleeping with the other woman and they figure they're equal so they get back together and never cheat again and live happily for all eternity. I don't think she'll go back to Peter, though. I think Nina just wants to get to know Nina the Person for a while, instead of Nina the Wife, or Mom, or Girlfriend. One of those ridiculous "I Need To Find Myself" deals. Peter, meanwhile, will get busy with Sunny, and find it unfulfilling because he needs emotional attachment in addition to the nookie.

reply

Yea. & Sunny is obviously about as deep as a beer bottle cap. So he'll get none of that. She's probably a hellcat in bed thou, so he'll enjoy that part! I'd rather they didn't get back together. I don't think they would have made it if not for the money anyway. Nina was always going to have feelings for Cameron. They money just made things better... For a while.

reply

yep Peter slept with Sunny...

and yeah Nina is in her trying to find herself BS stage...

reply

Sunny proved to be a little deeper than previously thought last night. But what Nina is doing was predictable. I noticed on my cable guide schedule, Windfall is not playing the next 2 weeks. Anybody know what's going on?

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

are you sure, maybe its just in your local area...

like maybe you just have a sports game on in your area...

reply

There is, in fact, a game on next week here. I wish I was given a choice. I hate the Bears. I'd rather watch paint dry than a Bears game. But I'm a little pissed with NBC on this one. They have a secondary channel... They could put Windfall on that channel. ABC did that last year. Something happened on the main ABC channel. So they switched the Monday Night Football game to their secondary channel until the primary was available.

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

well given that Windfall's gonna be cancelled, and it still draws worst ratings than a preseason football game... you can see why NBC did that...

and actually its your local NBC network, not the national one...

reply

Actually. Only this week is my local NBC network. Showing a Bears game. Next week is the NFL season kick-off game. That's a national game. So everybody will be missing Windfall then, if it's even still on.

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

actually i think this week is probably the season/series finale... though i'm not sure...

well if the game is national then Windfall just won't air anywhere... i mean it is a taped show and NOT live like sports...

reply

That would really suck for me. I'd like to see the series finale. & to miss it for a pre-season Bears game would REALLY be irritating.

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

i checked, i believe AUgust 31 is the series finale...

you should check if they air it later that nite like around 2-3am... they might do that in your area...

cuz on Thursday we have a preseason game but its on CBS, but the show Big Brother is getting bumped and they are airing that at like 2am instead...

reply

I record Windfall, so that wouldn't bother me. They may be doing that, but it's not listed on the Guide.. So I won't be able to record it, unless they say exactly when it is. That sucks.

"It's not just about me & my dream of doing nothing" Office Space..

reply

Its funny how the origianl messege board was Damiens fast drive from LA to NY.. then to go through the whole season..lol.. anyway.. I record it on my DVR and it didnt pick anything up from tonight. and on NBCS website it is saying that last week Aug. 24th was the last one they aired... did anyone see the show tonight.. so I can see if they really played it

reply

they did air it, i recorded the episode, haven't watched it yet... i live in MAryland near DC...

the one that aired last nite was the SERIES finale...

reply

[deleted]

I just watched the series finale. Here in NYC it showed at 12:30 PM today. I hate when there are cliffhangers but maybe they did it in hopes that the show would be back.

reply

I just watched it tonight. My DVR recorded it at 2:05 am. It was good. I was really hoping that it was not the series finally, but it seemed like it was over.

reply

Windfall takes place in Ohio. Cameron has a 614 area code phone number (when Peter was checking Nina's cell phone bill online). 614 is the area code for central Ohio. Columbus is a 9 hour drive from NYC and a 55 minute plane ride. Plus Luke (Dylan) Perry grew up in Ohio. And my uncle eats veal.

reply

It takes place in Illinois - presumably a suburb of Chicago. Cameron had an Illinois license plate when they went to buy the lottery ticket.
