Anyone know if this is available anywhere?

I love to get the 20 volume set either on dvd or vhs. I know PBS retailed a number of episodes back in the 80's and A&E broadcast a truncated version a bit later, but the series, so far as I know, has not been available since. Would like to find one, if possible.

It not available anywhere unless you go through private ownership. I have looked for it and I could not find it. You might try EBay to see if someone is selling it. The reason I have a complete copy of the documentary was my father recorded part of its intial run in 1978 and the rerun that PBS did in the 1980's.

It's distributed locally by Madman in Australia for AU$37.99 & I think it's Region 0. Here's the website address of just one major retailer http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/special-interest-documentary/unknown-war-the/661460

There are two versions Russian/English on the well known PB torrent site - simply type in "Unknown War" in the search box and you have a choice of DVD-VOB or separate MKV files.

Without a doubt this is the best series I have ever seen on WWII from the Russian perspective. If you watch this, the 1971 five part dramatised Russian film 'Liberation' and The Battle Of Russia (part of the Capra 'Why We Fight' series), you cannot be left in any doubt that the Soviet Union won WWII.

Eighty percent of the Nazi war machine was aimed towards the East and around 90% of the total Nazi casualties were inflicted by the Red Army and the Partisans. Given the fact the remaining 20% of the Third Reich's strength was pitted against all the rest of the allies combined, this stark statistic certainly puts things into perspective.

I say this as an English person who was born many years after the end of WWII...The entire global population owes an eternal debt to the Russian people for defeating fascism.
