DTG And..........???

Can any one tell me some similar movies to DTG please. I want to find some modern partly supernatural/superpower martial art movies like this.

Any suggestions???

Unfortunately there are not too many of them.

Let's see how many I can think of...

- "Kung Fu Hustle" (2004) and "Shaolin Soccer" (2001) (both by Stephen Chow)
Both movies are martial arts comedies. Both are excellent! The balance between comedy and action is held with perfection. All fights are pure eye-candy (Super-powered martial arts). HIGHLY recommended! They are masterpieces of Asian cinema!

- The One (2001, with Jet Li)
It is partially a sci-fi movie. Only two of the characters are super-powered.

- Romeo Must Die (2000, also Jet Li)
The superpowers become evident only in some exaggerated martial arts moves. I guess some people would argue it ain't a superpowers-movie at all.

- Black Mask (1996, Jet Li)
The character played by Jet Li is actually meant to be a super-hero. I highly recommend this movie for its action alone!

- Arahan (2004, produced in Korea)
This fits the description precisely...But the movie is also trying to be a comedy. The hero in this movie mostly acts like a dork. You need be aware of that.

- The Storm Riders (1998, Hong Kong)
It is very akin to DTG...Very very akin! But the martial arts consist almost solely of flashy magics. If you don't need skillful martial arts moves to enjoy such a movie, then this is precisely what you are looking for! (You'll need to look for the uncut version. The 90 min version is full of plot holes!)

- Avenging Fist ("Kuen Sun", 2001, Hong Kong)
Same production team as "Storm Riders". This too is very akin to DTG...But the story is almost unbearably bad. So, be warned. Not a good movie.

- Blade (all 3 parts, 1998, 2002 & 2004, with Wesley Snipes)
"modern partly supernatural/superpower martial art movie" - That's what they are. (Part 2 also features Donnie Yen as the fight-choreographer and in a small role).

- The Chronicles of Riddick (2004, with Vin Diesel)
Well...A sci-fi movie with some DTG resemblances...A far-fetched claim, admittedly.

- Fist of the North Star ("Hokuto No Ken", 1986, Animation!)
You could say it is the godfather of super-powered martial arts. Each new character appearing in the movie, is more over the edge than the last (regarding powers). There is also a remake of this movie, with real actors (starring Gary Daniels), but it is plain bad and half of the story was cut. I only recommend the animated version.

- Ninja Scroll (1993, Animation)
To this day one of the best animated movies I have ever seen. Super-powered martial artists in a well told story.

- Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000, Animation)
A very supernatural hero in a very entertaining animated movie. Highly recommended!

- Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1994, Animation)
The closest resemblance to DTG. I recommend it.
Choose this one over "Street Fighter: The Movie" (worst game-to-movie adaptation ever produced!).

I assume I don't need to mention "The Matrix"!?
The "Mortal Kombat" movies are also comparable...But I refrain from recommending them (if you really want to try them, skip directly to the 2nd part).

No more on my mind, right now.

If you want to stay with HK cinema I think Volcano High is going to be the closest thing to it. Casshern is pretty sci-fi/fantasy as well. If you want to stay with a more teen audience oriented flick Volcano High, Returner, or Azumi 1 & 2 will all work.

Before DTG I have to say Iron Monkey was my fav. Kung Fu Hustle is the closest when it comes to supernatural powers. Stephen Chow is working on Kung Fu Hustle 2. His movies are hilarious but has awesome fighting in them. The Royal Tramp 1 & 2 are another Stephen Chow movie that has great fighting with some supernatural moves. Bone desolve technique is pretty sick and funny at the same time.

Casshern - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405821/

same CG visuals, but long, and not as good, but decent.

I rated it a 4/10, but it might be something you'd like
