Wilson Yip directed SPL - good movie. Dnd he directed Dragon Tiger Gate. I haven`t seen Dragon Tiger Gate but I think it will be a good movie.

in DTG there's too much cheesiness, bad special effects, repitive fights and donnie posing in the wind tunnel shots

Granted I was scratching my head in the beginiing but the fight scenes were so-so (why does the film insisted on showing a slo-mo shot of a stunt from a different camera angle?) The melo-drama in the middle and interpursed toward the end was a little awkward. This film was more of an Asian verson of an American "popcorn flick". The overall rating for the film is pretty accurate.
shareComparing to Saat po long, this is so bad a kungfu movie. Actually, the kungfu movies from the comic are always bad. This is similar to the movies coming from these heroic comic like Spiderman....
you think Sha Poh Lang is good but you think this movie is bad? everything that you accused Dragon Tiger Gate of can be found in Sha Poh Lang too.. do you guys really see a difference in quality? seriously? are you guys just farking high on weed. I can't believe how farking dumb the people in IMDB are.
shareLol, SPL is much better. This is melodrama, the SPL drama, acting, storyline is way better. About the fights, some of DTG were pretty poor, I never liked these kind of fights, although the first few fights were pretty good.
shareI havent seen this yet, but I do want to see it~ mainly because I dont take these kind of movies very seriously, but the fights, effects and creativity can be fun to watch. Plus, seeing Donnie in anything, no matter how dumb it is, is always a treat!
You all need to calm down and take movies for what they are, not all of them are going to be the most uberest movies ever, it's not like this movie will have some truly horrible acting and plot and whatever, just go get served and watch "You Got Served," then come back and talk about how crappy this is. LOL
And btw just saw SPL, and it was a good movie, not as many fights as I expected, but the story and acting were pretty solid, and the fights that were there were very good.

Seeing as how SR was released as a "big budget" movie in 1998 (with a $10 million budget no less), I don't mind the effects in SR. If there were more CG scenes like when Turbo makes that bell with his nunchaku throughout the movie, that would have been great.
