Daymn This Movie Kicks Ass!!~

I was never into cheezy action films which were adapted from comic books. These kind of movies usually have lots of over-the-top CGI and action sequences which were fake and totally unreal. As such, I wasn't really enthusiastic in catching this movie although it has been quite some time since this action flick was first launched in Hong Kong.

Daymmnnnnn I was proved wrong when one of my buddy loaned me the movie he burned on DVD-RW just yesterday. This is by far the best comic-book adaptation that I"ve watched since Stormriders. The plot is surprisingly quite good, and all main characters actually looked good doing all the stunts themselves. I read that Nicholaz Tse did some intensive training before doing this movie, I think all that effort had paid off nicely. His moves and flying kicks are all executed with style and poise as if he had been doing it for years. Donnie Yen, as usual was awesome. Words cannot describe how good this guy is when it comes to martial arts. The special effects in this movie are worth a mention. Not overly-done or too ostentatious, it blends perfectly with the performances of the rest of the cast.

One of the best movie of its genre for this decade. Highly recommended. I'm gonna watch this again the 2nd time round this weekend.

Guys, please do yourself a favour and go watch this movie by any means possible. It's just that good.

Well, the movie has its qualities, but... Lacks somethings.

First - The plot is not consistent. The storyline is just a pretext for the fights to occur. And my taste is the opposite. A good story that carries the action.

The action scenes are superb. But the movie itself lacks content.

And... So that's it. The characters could be more developed. And they could be more deep. The way they are portrayed in the movie is very much two dimensional. Yeah, seems like a comic book. And the characters seem to be made of thin paper.

But, the movie is good.

Regarding the plot and storyline, I would agree. Reminds me of Tony Jaa's "The Protector" as well. Good action but poor storyline and character development. In this aspect, I think "The Protector" was more inferior.

Despite the shortcomings, I still think this comic book adaptation of DTG is quite entertaining and quite good.

I also enjoyed this movie! Donnie Yen cracks me up with the wind blowing in his hair, I think that's his signature pose in most of his movies, but the action and his fighting style was very very good, one of the top best of his films, in my opinion. (^^)
