'apparently murdered..'

Is this an unnecessary spoiler, ie. he thinks she's been murdered, but she turns up alive at the end. If we're supposed to believe she is dead and then be surprised/pleased with her aliveness, then why ruin her comeback with the "apparently" in the plout summary ??

***SPOILER***
If you haven't seen the film yet, you may not want to read further.
There is no "apparently" to the murder of the daughter. She's abducted. She's murdered. They have a funeral. Period. I think the "apparently" is more in reference to WHO Trey thinks is responsible.

**SPOILER**
There is no 'apparently...' she gets burned to death. If you're expecting a happy ending, you better watch something else.
