Another rip off of an australian film

I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this or if its listed on the site but this is another example of hollywood taking a perfectly good film and cutting it up into something else.

Just like "I now pronounce you chuck and larry" is a remake of "Strange bedfellows" "it's a boy girl thing" is a copy of the 1996 aussie film "Dating the enemy"

Just thought i'd add this. I'm not saying remakes are a bad thing, but seeing as the Australian film industry is small enough as it is, its difficult to watch Hollywood remake both Australian and international films and well, ruin some of them. Don't mean to offend anyone or start a war or anything, but just thought I'd put in my two cents. Hope this is useful

Actually i think your find the general plot of this film was made several times way before 1996. To name a few films that share a near identical plotline : The hot chick, freaky friday, 13 going on 30, Vice Versa (1988). 1988 is the oldest i can think of and im sure that was a remake so 1996 is well of the mark.

You know when i was watching this film i actually did think of Dating The Enemy, but i also thought of Freaky Friday and The Hot Chick. I don't think it's a rip off it may have similar concepts but they didn't necessarily steal the idea of Dating The Enemy (which is one of my favourite Aussie films).

1976 was the first freaky friday movie that was made remade again in 95 in the 76 movie jodie foster played the girl sorry i remember having watched all of them they all but the last was good the last one was just plain annoying

I know your post is like 9 years old, but The Hot Chick and Freaky Friday didn't have potential lovers who switch bodies...

Who cares if this, or ANY movie for that matter, is a rip off?

As long as it's a GOOD rip off, that's what counts.

I liked this movie more than 13 going on 30, freaky friday and the hot chick. (all of which I watched just recently)
A lot more.

And it's actually a UK/Canada production filmed in Canada.

No Hollywood here

The Australians weren't the first to do the whole body switch thing. Turnabout has a VERY similar premise as It's A Boy Girl Thing. There are also other body swapping films, such as Dream a Little Dream (one of my favs), Vice Versa, Freaky Friday, Big, and the list goes on.
