If so, Freaky Friday ia basically another Vice Versa, the F G Anstey story about father and son swapping bodies - published in 1882, filmed several times, and still IMO one of the funniest books ever. BTW, the distinguished 67-year-old novelist Antony Trollope laughed so hard reading Vice Versa that he had a fit and was dead in weeks. True story. So Anstey was one comic who literally slew his public - or at least one member of it.

Have you guys actually seen the film?
I had the same ideas you seem to have before i went in. I moaned and moaned at my friend that it was goin to be all the hot chick and freaky friday, which i found terrible. but im glad she dragged me in, because it actually turned out to be a really good film, and i enjoyed it a lot. its much better than those films, and you can really get absorbed in the story. its more believable (well as far as it can be!)
before you criticise give it a shot!

Not much like Freaky Friday, and a bit different from the Hot Chick. For one it is a male and female that switch places, providing more problems. And the way it is different from the Hot Chick is that they know each other before switching and hate each other, but in the Hot Chick they don't know each other. Also, they end up overcoming their differences at the end and liking each other.

It's very hard to original with movies these days, that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Body swap is a genre of itself (well, a subgenre), in the same way slashers, sex comedies, etc and etc, are all (sub)genres.
That's like saying Friday the 13th is another Halloween, or Superbad was another American Pie.
Yes.
