What happened all i remember was he was sitting by a rock and cole said "You want your fingers back dont ya?" and thats it

That's the last you ever see of him. It is possible that Soapy went and saw a doctor and lived through the whole ordeal, but realistically he was crawling around fingerless and losing a lot of blood.
Ultimately it's left up for the player to decide that in his or her own mind.
