Didn't Mary Tyler Moore Do This A Few Years Back?

Was a little surprised to see this coming up on Lifetime. Mary Tyler Moore made a similar movie a few years back. I do like Judy Davis's work so I will check it out anyway.

Yeah, I think it was a made-for-tv movie on CBS if I recall. Jean Stapleton played the poor elderly victim. That acting in that particular movie was more camp than anything, Mary Tyler Moore hamming it up as a con artist and murderer - Judy Davis will probably portray Sante Kimes as a very dangerous woman.

Well, that's good. The comic possibilities of murder are not explored nearly enough.

That ain't tactics, honey. It's just the beast in me.

Have you seen the commercial, she bursts through the door in a flurry of taffeta and one of Tina Turners old wigs screaming "Mama's Home."

If that doesn't qualify as "camp" nothing does.

She's so hammy she should have Hormel stamped on her forehead.

By the way that is not a bad thing. I cannot wait to see this.

Yes, I did believe that at first as well, that this was a remake of the other tv movie but I didn't realize that networks do that, make remakes of other tv movies, but good for us! ;) Both versions included actors that did such a wonderful job though this one with Judy Davis really showed that sick Sante's creepy side with her keeping her maid(s) as slaves and just the way that she totally corrupted her son. Such a vile woman!!

I love Judy Davis so I decided to watch this, even though I cannot tolerate Lifetime's glut of commercials...but anyway, Judy Davis is great as this character and I'm glad they sort of treated it as a dark comedy. But since she did so well as Judy Garland a few years ago in "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows", I felt like I was watching Judy Garland doing this role. Can't decide if I liked it or not, but as always, Judy Davis is terrific.

And by the way, Mary Tyler Moore did do this and it was much more serious and sort of scary.

Great flick... a little different take than MTM's... liked them both. Judy Davis could probably play "Hamlet".

Just an aside, can you say "V-C-R"?

I thought this movie seemed familiar! I was like, "Wait... I've seen this movie before! And wasn't Lifetime the channel who made it?"

Glad I got those cleared up, lol.

Judy Davis was better. MTM should stick to the good girl roles
