about the mother of the girl

Contains spoilers...

I don't know if this has been talked about but does anyone else think that the MOTHER of the girl that was killed deserves some of the blame?!

Who the hell tells their child to hide from them OUTSIDE in NEW YORK CITY?!

And then she attacks Jose as if he deliberately ran her down. I know that it must be the most horrible thing in the world to find your child dead in the street, but I think she was way too hard on him. He stayed and took responsibility and he mentions that she would never meet with him. Hopefully because she realized it was her fault and feels too guilty to face him!

I just saw the movie a few days ago ... and I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Her mother actually hid her eyes! Everyone knows you just pretend to hide your eyes ... you don't just let a child (especially that young) hide where you actually have no idea where she is!! Anything could have happened!

Still, it was so sad. I am too sensitive ... that image will NEVER leave me. Even right now writing this I feel like I am going to vomit.

I have to agree. I can understand her rage at that moment, but she was also to blame. You just don't let a child that small go running outside without having your eyes on them. However, I do see irresponsible actions by parents every day in the city. It makes me furious. I saved a 2 year old from running into traffic on a busy street last year. Turned out the child's mother was on the 2nd floor of a nearby library and she didn't even realize the child had run off when I returned her child to her; in fact the mother acted miffed at ME who had just saved her child's life. Also, last month I saved a toddler from getting badly injured (possibly even killed) by some heavy electronic doors. The toddler was about to get banged in the head when I snatched it out of harm's way. I took the child to the mother and told her she needed to keep the toddler within her sight, and she yelled at me "I don't need YOU to tell me that!" It's a wonder more kids aren't killed in accidents considering how irresponsible some parents are.

People should have to get a permit to have kids, seriously. Take a class, get a degree, something.

When I saw that, I couldn't believe what a dumbass that woman was for letting her kid run away basically. Who does that? Really?

Then I thought it took away from the credibility of the movie but I thought about it - there are indeed people stupid enough to let that kind of thing happen. So sad.

I teach in the city where this was filmed and I have to say I see the same crap all the time, on posters advertizing lawyers, to kids roaming the streets all hours and shock to the world when they are killed by stray bullets of the night to kids deciding to leave for school but they go to the park instead...

The lawyers advertize how they got millions of dollars for families who now have children with disabilities caused by them eating leaded paint peelings. UM,... what the hell were the parents doing while their kids were noshing on paint peelings???

Toddlers getting killed by stray bullets at 2am. Um. what the hell are they doing OUT in the street then???

The kid who would leave for school *every day* (as the mother said) but would go to the park instead was in my class. Out of the 5 day week we would usually see him maybe 2 times if the weather was nice. Maybe 3 times if it wasn't. There wasn't a week's day of school where we saw him for all of those days.

Most of the parents in this city who are on the dole don't give birth they have something removed (and it is never just *something*... there are always more than one)

You just cannot take your eyes off young children today for a second...she is largely to blame.

I don't understand why he would even go to jail. It was an accident. Unless he was driving recklessly, driving drunk, or left the scene, there's no crime. And yes, the mother's mostly to blame, but no crime there either.

Besides that unbelievable part of the movie, and a generally so-so plot, it's not so bad, though. Some beautiful actors, fine acting, nice cinematography. It's worth watching.

He got 4 years in prion it's quite less according to my opinion. The guilt assigned to him is "involuntary manslaugher" which is 4 years prison like Michael Jackson's doctor got too..
Jose is guilty beacause he was very very very careless while driving.
