I met kitamura at the fantasia film festival last night, and I asked him about this project with iwai, and he said that unfortunately it was "not gonna happen" but that they were working on something else...?!
Also, versus 2 will be american if I understood correctly...

Either way, kitamura reassured me that something really cool was in the works, so I'll just sit around and wait for something new from either director.
