favorite samurai
Kyuzo is badass
shareHe's such a cool character; he knows what he's doing; and doesn't need to tell anyone.
shareFilm: Kikuchiyo. Do I really need a reason for why.
Anime: Kyuzo. Pathetic way he went out. But I love his final line to Kambei. About how they still have a score to settle and that he'll be waiting in Kanna.
Who I hated in both film & anime: Katsushiro. I found him annoying in the film. In the anime I just hated seeing him on screen.
"My future is dead ... just like me" - Beyond the Grave aka Brandon Heat
I liked Katsushiro. He wasn't an amazing sword fighter but got better as the show progressed.
shareKatsushiro was my favorite too...He should have nailed kirara before he left the village though...
Kyuzo was badass but his look was very similar to Vash from Trigun, which kinda turned me off to him.
Kyuzo was pretty talented, and I liked Heihachi's easy-going attitude, but I absolutely loved Kikuchiyo. He was pretty annoying at first, lumbering about and bragging to no end, but he began to grow on me; by the time he gave his speech about how both the farmers and the samurai should be ashamed of themselves, I was sold. Thirteen-dono is totally my favorite character.
Chupathingy! It's got a ring to it!
Gorobei and momotaro were cool too!
shareI loved Kyuzo in the anime. I'm still not sure all the extra villians and challenges were really necessary, but the one truly good thing that came out of them was that Kyuzo became a much more interesting character.
High school, the workplace and the Internet. You can always find plenty of @ssholes there.
Gorobei Katayama and Kyuzo
"Iron Man thats kind of catchy"
it say it's OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!
jasper the douchebag ghost
Much like the film this anime originated from, my favorite is Kambei. In the movie or the anime series, Kambei was the sage, old and quite capable bushi whom had seen it all and been through it all. Kambei.
shareKikuchiyo. Hands down, bar none, by a longshot.
share1. Heihachi. I can't help but to love this easy going and modest type of character who becomes the heart of the group. He had his demons to struggle with, but he still spread a good vibe most of the time.
2. Gorobei. Basically a battle hardened, slightly more serious version of the happy-go-lucky-guy. Not too far off from Heihachi but also something of a wise old man. Besides, his projectile dodging & catching was cool.
3. Kikuchiyo. I'm usually not too fond of comic relief characters, but this anime version Kikuchiyo has every bit the charm of Mifune's original. Besides, his relationship with Komachi was so sickeningly adorable that it was irresistable.
4. Unlike most others apparently, I liked Katsushiro. He got the most character development of the lot and in a way felt like the central protagonist among the 7. Besides... his attempt to single handedly organize the final defense of Kanna village was crazy badass, if somewhat flawed.
5. Kambei didn't get to express much of his thoughts and beliefs but he still had that Old Faithful quality to him with his strategic expertise and all. I want to recall that he was more charismatic in the original version but I haven't seen it for ages.
6. Shichiroji didn't really get to do much beyond the fighting, but he had a cool introduction with him reminiscing on the days of old. If it hadn't been for that I would probably have ranked him the lowest.
7. Kyuzo was boring. He kicked a lot of ass but that was about it. In the original version he was my second favorite after Heihachi, but this version only spoke about 4 lines in the entire series. A completely flat character.
Priests adore prophets, prophets resent priests
Kambei is the best.
Gorobei was my favourite; highly skilled, but smart, well balanced and could maintain his humour - as well as lift others up - in the bleakest of situations.
i liked katsu as well, a fundamentally good hearted and principled fellow. i was also impressed by how his skills grew through practice and dedication.
i found most of the 7 likeable, except Kikuchiyo. he was far too brash. Kyuzo is cool, but rather too empty a character to be my favourite.
Never, never to be squandered...the miracle of another human being.
Kambei.
In the film, Kikuchiyo.
