This is a great little movie

I loved this film, it's a really slow burn but by the end you're holding your breath. It's clever because you think you know what's going to happen but you're never quite sure and the fact that the viewer knows more than the characters adds to the suspense. I don't think I've ever seen the Australian outback used to such good effect before and the soundtrack is great. The acting was so good I forgot that there were only three people on screen 99 per cent of the time and Amelia Warner is absolutely gorgeous.

A great film. Up there with Hitchkock.

reply

its not a clever film at all, Its very very predictable, from the moment we see Taylor its obvious where the plot is going to go.

I thought is was a good movie. Made me think about "the hitcher (I mean the one with Rutger Houwer)" It's not bad for a first movie for the director. Even if it was a low budget movie. But I do agree that the "Alex" person was not the best choice.

awful movie. do not waste time, money or bandwith on this trash. please vote so ppl will know without having to read the comments.

Indeed this is an excellent film, but I think you either love it or you hate it. Funny psychological games, beautyfully cinematographed en lovely locations. Loved this movie!

reply

I also enjoyed this movie. Enjoyed it a lot. One can argue that it is predictable or lacks imagination or that the cast doesn't give memorable performances but so what? It is an enjoiable suspense road movie with a great soundtrack! Worth it seeing twice.

Yep. It's rather crappy. Irritated the hell out of me, completey unlogical. Indeed, why the hell is she sleeping with this guy when so many odd things are going on? Get outta here!!! As far as Australian suspense goes, I found Wolf Creek to be a much, much, much, much better film.

reply

Yes, agreed. Wolf Creek is the opposite, 100 times better.
Soundtrack is crap too, don't see what people like about that.

i thought it was good! i suppose if you're expecting a typical US-style slasher flick complete with buoyant cheerleaders, halloween masks and a hero geek then yeah, you're gonna be disappointed. I think this a little gem of a film with excellent acting and great cinematography. Sure, it's got its slip-ups... what really happened to Ingrid, the big 'Scottish unit' woman that went crazy when she recognised Taylor and her reasons, not to mention Alex's 'is he Irish? Liverpudlian? Anyone?' accent. Other than that, good little film!!

I also enjoyed this movie and thought the acting was quite good. I wouldn't say it's an A-grade movie but I liked it and would watch it again.

reply

That's funny, because I got next to no sense of it being filmed in Australia. I heard nary an Aussie accent in the whole picture and much of the scenery was anonymous. It might just as well have been filmed in New Mexico, for all the difference the location made. Disagree on the acting too, I'm afraid. Mechlowicz mumbled his way through the film and had all the menace and charisma of a Jonas Brother.
