French Breakfast at Tiffany's?

"She only dated men with money...until she met a man with a heart."

I know - Audrey Tautou is no Audrey Hepburn (..same first name though, eh, eh?) and not as classy. But then, if Holly Golightly existed in modern times, I think she'd look quite a lot like Irene. It takes a lot more...flesh these days to snag a rich man, I'll warrant.

The whole film Irene broke the number one fashion rule: boobs, legs, or back, but never all three. She literally had everything out. But there's this starry-eyed innocence in that cherubic, wide-eyed face, that made her a cut above the rest anyway. Some reviewer called her 'a massive slut'. Please. No more than Holly Golightly. Both are scared little girls who just want someone to take all their troubles away.

I still love Holly Golightly more, but I think I prefer Gad Elmaleh as her 'man with a heart' to George Peppard. I thought his fleshy California Boy looks didn't sit with his sensitive, intense personality. Jean is BRILLIANT.

..Right?

I just finished watching it and I thought EXACTLY the same thing. Even the Audrey Hepburn comparison. Great minds...

...watch this film, and thus think alike. Anyone who isn't French and watches a film like this gets my instant approval.

Just saw this for the first time..very enjoyable and BTW according to the IMDB bio Audrey Tautou's parents named her for Hepburn.

I saw this a couple of years ago, and I couldn't help but love most of the clothes in this film. LOL - Perhaps, I'll have to watch it again - as I'm very aware of "The Rules." Although rules, are meant to be broken.

Good catch on the "Tiffany's" parallel. I love both films.

ETA: found a few pics (listed below for anyone who's interested). Nope, nothing wrong with her clothes. To me, at least. I think the clothing counterbalanced well with her hair and makeup, which were very minimal and subdued - leaving an impression that her ensembles were sexy, yes, but still classy. But again, this also lends to your comparison - Holly's clothing in B.A.T., was appropriate for the time as well - perhaps a little flashy, but IMO, not "slutty."

That's also the first movie I thought of when viewing this one accept for a few changes that equalized the dynamic between the two characters. I thought that was particularly brilliant. My eight year old niece actually introduced me to this film. My first reaction to seeing it with her was, "Oh my goodness! What has this child been watching while her parents are not around?" The second was pride in her quite mature and very good taste. She loves a good love story.

If your niece watched a sub-titled version of the movie, it would be even more impressive.

Actually she did watch the sub titled version. It played on Starz Cinema I believe earlier this year. So yeah, she is pretty impressive.

Ahaha! Good comparison. Its like a funny man rewrote the filmversion of tiffanys and added a more chaplin-esk partner for her.
Gad E. is funny and his tiny rodent-like movements combined with those eyes is hillarious.
