You're all a bunch of Vince McMahon worshipping lemmings

Back in the day, I disliked the Ultimate Warrior when everybody else worshipped him. Nowadays, it's considered cool to hate on the Warrior. Why? Because you marks eat up whatever Vince will serve you.

I watched "Self Destruction" and even as a self-confessed Warrior hater (an original one, not a Johnny come lately) I could see through this BS hit piece.

The fact of the matter is, Warrior was a draw. And the reason that his wrestling career was rather short is because he never felt the need to wrestle for the money. Unlike Ric Flair (and I say this as a Flair fan), Warrior never had to beg Vince for a job. And that's basically what p*sses Vince off the most.

All of you "Self Destruction" fans are brainless morons who can't think for yourselves. The Warrior haters even take Hogan's side of the story when it comes to the "big no no" (Warrior mentioning that he had beat Hogan on a WCW promo).

And Warrior holding Vince hostage for more money? Hey, I think I have new admiration for this Warrior guy--what a shrewd businessman.

reply

You wrote Warrior's promos didn't you?

reply

No. I'm just able to think independently, unlike the "Warrior haters" here (who were ironically, Warrior fanatics back in the day).

Is Warrior the greatest worker? No--he needed top talent (like Rick Rude, Randy Savage) to carry him to a good match. But he was able to connect with an audience and a good promoter should be able to utilize his strengths to the fullest while minimizing his weaknesses.

Does Warrior deserve this hit piece documentary on him? Certainly not -- it is blatantly one-sided. The most laughable part is Hogan saying it was a "big no no" for Warrior to mention in a promo how he beat the 'unbeatable' Hulk Hogan. How is that a "big no no" ? Warrior was simply hyping and building up the prospect of a rematch.

Warrior, for whatever his faults, was an entertaining wrestler. Back in the day, I disliked him because of the sheeple mentality where everybody cheered and followed him blindly. I preferred 'workers' like Rick Rude, Ted DiBiase, Bret Hart, etc.

I see nothing wrong with Warrior holding up McMahon for more money -- money, he felt was owed to him. Ironically, Vince would hire Warrior 2 more times after that.

I agree I hated that blind faith people put into the Warrior. I've disliked him since 88, so I am no lemming.

Ok if you’re a pissed that SDUW was a obvious hatched job on by McMahon, what did you expected? He produced the film! McMahon has a legitimate axe to grind with Warrior though. Warrior was handed the greatest gift of all and acted like it was nothing

Fact is Warrior is phony and two bit liar, not that McMahon is any better. I’ve been saying seeing through Warrior’s one-dimensional gimmick since day one.

All Warrior is, is the ultimate testament to McMahon’s genius and the stupidity of the average 9 year old fan. He is proof that McMahon can make a champion out of anyone, even a blow hard, juiced up, nut job, former bodybuilder.

I’m not saying every other wrestler is technical wrestling wizard, but every other champion has had some fluidity and a grasp on even the most basic of wrestling fundamentals. Even Hogan, who is barely a notch above him, could put together a series of moves together convincingly if the mood struck him. Check out his early matches in Japan.

Warrior has nothing going for him, other then big hair and the stupid arm bands. He lacks charisma, wrestling skill, ring presence, and the ability to perform any match other then a 3 minute squash job. He is the living embodiment of style over substance. All his matches are the same: runs to the ring, shakes the rope, clothesline, clothesline, bounces off the ropes, and finishes with a gorilla press.

Check out his final match in WCW, he and Sting taking on Hogan and Bret Hart. This is a great example of great match and lousy match. Sting and Hart, two of the best in their generation put on a great show, while Hogan obviously hampered by age and injuries plays up the crowd and Warrior stands there and shakes the ropes. He doesn’t even enter the ring until 6 and half minutes into a 8 minute match!

Warrior likes to claim that McMahon is pissed at him for leaving on his own terms. Fact is McMahon fired him because he was a boring champion and was difficult to work with in and outside the ring. He was a no show at many matches and tried to squeeze McMahon for more money then he was worth.

And that’s what it comes down to. Warrior chides other wrestlers for continuing to work for money and the glamour, yet after his first stint, he accepted McMahon’s offer and came back twice. If he didn’t like the first time he was in WWF, why come back for more? Cause he needed the money. If he walked away, I would have some respect for him, but instead he came back and made himself an even bigger joke then he all ready was.

No other wrestler collects as much heat as he does because he deserves it. He doesn’t respect those that job for him and nor will he go out of his way to help others. The jealously he has for other wrestlers, particularly HHH, is laughable. Fact is HHH has wrestled non stop for the WWF/E for 16 years and has over 20 championship runs. Warrior’s best effort was 1 championship run during a three year period.

Warrior is a fraud, He says he doesn’t care about money, yet he’s filed numerous revenue seeking law suits against McMahon and WWE.

I would however would love to see him get a show on Fox News

You going to do something or just stand there and bleed?

I just see a guy who came in and ran circles around everyone in terms of speed of his success, demand from the fans and sales of the merchandise and magazines based on his character. He put everyone in his shadow in a very short amount of time, had tremendous business leverage over Vince and the simple fact is his peers were jealous to the bone over it.

Then consider he's one of the only guys who ever stood up to the bosses and demanded to be paid what he was worth. These are not smart people. Hulk Hogan is not a smart businessman.
The most famous wrestlers have these absurd net worths like 5 and 10 million dollars when they must have made vince 200 times that.
This guy hears the numbers offered, knows how much they are making and demands a fair share.
Half a million back the would be more like 2 million today.

Most of all I really do just think the other wrestlers were jealous of him because he was so absurdly popular but his wrestling skill was at best average and realistically mediocre.
I remember how much people loved this guy I thought they were nuts.
I remember thinking he was the greatest character ever for a few months but it faded fast. He gave some of the best interviews but streaked in and out of the ring so fast I lost interest.

Looking at Vince there's way too much control in his hands when you don't own the character rights at least in part. You can't even make a public appearance under your character's name if you're getting paid unless Vince gets his cut.
So if you write a book and go on tour how the hell do you even promote it?

Some wrestlers own the character rights but most don't.
Considering how much these companies make off selling tickets, selling DVD's and selling commercial time you're really getting screwed when the merchandise cut you get is trivial compared to what is coming in.
Even bands signed to major labels retain all merchandise rights which is how most make their money.

A wrestler who only has 5 or 10 million in net worth after a 20 or 30 year career?!?
That's nuts!
Hogan admits he pissed way over 100 million bucks over the years but overall someone like Rick Flair or The Big Show or The Undertaker I would expect these guys to have a net worth of 20 million bucks and some I'd expect 40 or 50.
Vince is a billionaire estimated to have 1.2 billion but I'm sure most of these people have also managed to hide an awful lot of money off the record Vince included.
