How Do Families Feel?

I was wondering how families that have autistic children felt about this. I have an autistic nephew. I love the honest way they portrayed autistic children, and the emotions of the families.

One day at a time? What, like two or three is an option?

i have a younger brother who's autistic(he's 14) and i thought they also did a very good job at portraying autistic children. I like that they didn't hide certain things but at the same time they made it fun. When people hear that i have a little brother that has autism people are like 'oh that's so horrible' and while it is really hard you can learn a lot from them.

This was a great film and I can relate (well my whole family) to the families that is going through an autistic child. I too, have a younger brother that is autistic. He is 20 years old and I believe these type of children is very, intelligent and a pleasant to be around despite the setbacks they are facing socially. I think when more people can appreciate those with autism, they will have better a understanding of it.

so is the 20 year old with autism living on his own now? i have never seen any follow ups on adults with autism, it's always about the children. i just want to see something besides rainman that showcases adults that have gotten jobs and live independantly.

As I have said in some of my other posts my daughter has autism. I thought this film did an excellent job showing what it was like to have a kid with autism. I also liked the way they looked into the dissolving marriages. Its very hard. Sometimes I feel like I'm in a battle against the world to prove that my child is a great chd despite her having autism. And sometimes I feel as if I'm fighting against her father...it can be a real struggle.
